cichlaguapote;1256699; said:I wasn't big into rays before the ban but was around to see low prices everyone dreams about. My obvious reasoning is supply and demand. Before supply was higher, demand was the same or lower. How many can be brought in wild? Now think about how many even breeding operations like Mike's can pump out a year? Probably far less then they can catch wild. You have alot of people believe it or not who want the rays more than ever now that they're more expensive. Means they have something expensive and less other people will have it. I think rays didn't used to be as popular and have really hit the big time popularity the past few years.
That would be my synopis, opinion and guess'.

Itaituba2003;1256426; said:This is also what my source tells me. 3 Big exporters have talked to Ibama now Ibama is split in 2 orginazations. And they are still talking and what are they talking about. Their is a SMALL change that their will be quota for some rays. It will be for 5 species NOT including any black rays or pearls.
If this will be done it will be quota from 500 till 1000 animals per species. So minimum 2500 and maximum 5000 animals.
Already the export fromPeru has dubbled from 20000 animals to 40000 animals. But my question is have you seen them? I don't know of other people but Idon't see them in Europe do you see them in the US or in Asia?? These are official figures where all these rays.
But like some of you sad already lets wait and see.
