Because if you go to the DR and get tested for HIV and it comes back negative, there is still a chance that you could have HIV. Odds are you don't, but tests can be and sometimes are wrong. Thats the same reason forensics dont hold up in court. Tests aren't proof of anything beyond probability.
There are two differing subjects in this sentence here. DNA tests prove that EBJD's aren't hybrids. It is in the chromosomes of the nucleolus. It is DNA genes, which would prove that it is in fact a same-species fish. Unlike HIV, which is a blood test under a microscope... Sometimes people that make themselves looks stupid when they post just make me laugh.

And the underlined sentence just makes me :irked:. How don't forensics hold up in court? Forensics can be something like a video recording, a fingerprint, DNA, Gun shot residue, or someone arguing that DNA results don't prove which species something is.

Here is the definition of forensics directly from Websters. Hell, the argument about Black JD's being "real" or not is considered forensics.
2forensic Function:noun Date:1814 1: an argumentative exercise2plural but sing or plural in constr : the art or study of argumentative discourse3plural but sing or plural in constr : the application of scientific knowledge to legal problems ; especially : scientific analysis of physical evidence

By the way, if you read up on the EBJD sequencing tests... They were searching the mother’s side for other than R. octofasciata DNA, which they did not find. Finding other than R. octofasciata DNA would prove they are hybrids, but finding nothing other than R. octofasciata DNA didn’t ‘prove’ anything… although it was highly suggestive that they are not hybrids.

But if we were to look at it from a “in the court of law” type perspective… you were wrong and the guy you criticized was right…

But everyone makes mistakes, so no worries… but next time remember that when you are criticizing others…

I've been breeding JBJDs (Jet Black JD)for years.... They are most certainly a different species than all other color morph JD's. Here is one of mine. I'm taking orders for the next batch.

Oh... and if anyone is wondering how I am so certain it's a different species, I used one of these:

i think that picture looks kinda screwy:screwy: maybe just me but do have any more pics? the eyes look weird and it almost looks like an edited negative of a normal jd but then again i am no expert

Nice photoshop........................doesn't the word myth imply no physical evidence to support an exsistance? Anywho my jag is jet black with tankmates, even her eyes. I believe she uses this color morph as a type of camoflague because when she is in a tank all by herself her colors are purpleish white, black spots, reddish eyes.

Is there a black JD strain couldn't tell ya but I wish I had the billions spent on searching for champy and nessy.

So, now apparently people with faulty information are right?

Not at all... reread the original posts that were made when the sequencing tests were done... they did not "prove" that Blue Dempseys were not hybrids. They only tested the material side... The conclusion was it is unlikely they are hybrids, but did leave a loop hole or two for the possibility...
