Is this a good cray tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Also, he told me that are are capable of reproducing at the tiny size of half and inch. The older they become, the smaller the number of their offspring are. Younger the cray = more offspring it will have. He let me in on a lot of other very interesting things as well. I am trying to get him to become a member of MFK so people will not have to worry about it their cray is a marbled or not.

haha yeah why?

He already is a member of MFK. He makes all sorts of wild claims about them while trying to justify his insane prices for them. A lot of stuff he says is full of half-truths, or is just plain lies. He also claims his 'ORIGINAL' marbled crays are better and somehow more 'pure' than every other cloned marble cray out there.

My own research across the net says they usually reproduce around 1.5" - 2"+. The eggs are 2mm in diameter, not sure how many eggs a 1/2" cray could produce. 3 maybe? At 1/2", they're still molting every few days. Not sure they would willingly take 20+ days off to care for a couple eggs instead of bulking up for a couple more weeks and producing 30 or more of them.

I'd take everything that guy says with a grain of salt until you verify it through other sources.

Mine don't like cucumber. I got some HBH Crab & Lobster bites for their primary dietary staple, and they always have various veggies available as well. They love Anacharis and blood worms. :grinno:

haha cool thanks. That information sounds much more realistic to me. All mine do at this size is molt. Oh, and they have been eating shrimp as well, eh, who knows. I will toss some veggies in there as well.

Ive tossed in raw potato and seen them eating it, though the snails in the tank seem to eat it more then they do.

I forgot I have bloodworms in the freezer, might have to try those tomorrow

Usually see them for around $5 each these days. I got 8 for $45 shipped from Aquabid.

The 49.99 mentioned before is just a non-juvenile. He says a full grown adult used to go for 99.99 on his site. For 1 cray. That clones itself. :screwy:

I've tossed shrimp in a couple times (chopped frozen krill). They eat it, but they don't attack it like they do with the bloodworms. The bloodworms were the first thing I put in where they were all holding one in each pincher while chewing another. :grinno:

Mine seem to like potato as well. Have also fed Peas, green beans, and lettuce. Peas are probably the favorite veggie so far. Supposedly they love fruit as well, but I haven't tried yet. Will have to try an apple or melon one of these days.

And back to the thread. ;)

Good news: Guy emailed me a few times (encrypted emails with my own email address as the heading got ignored! Oops!) and he's sending an adult or three with the rest. Seller clearly intends to make good on the deal.

Weird news: The hair algae mat is now the size of a basketball and I'm afraid it will entangle the babies. Thoughts?

Good news on the deal. :) I wouldn't worry about the hair algae. Mine graze on it sometimes and the smaller ones like using it to go glass walking. They'll probably get it trimmed down a bit for ya, free food. :)
