Does it mean the tank is cycled and ready for my fish?View attachment 1416009
this is the reading about 12 hours after I dosed to 3 ppm. Ammonia looks to be between .5 - 1, no nitrite, nitrate looks to be 5.

Ok cool. My first true QT tank all these year of keeping fish. I dosed ammonia cause I wasn’t sure if my media from the establish tank will be sufficient enough to handle the load I will add. Good to know that adding ammonia could kill my BN. I will use fish food in the future. Just curious, how long will bb survive without fish load?Every qt tank I've ever setup was setup using media from a established tank. The day before or the day of. Fill up your hob with as much as it will fit and drop a bag of media on the bottom of the tank. I never needed to dose pure ammonia and never had a ammonia spike. If you feel the need to use ammonia use it very sparingly as it could sterilize your aquarium and kill your bb. I would instead only use fish food to feed the cycle until you add your fish.
Thanks, I order from a LFS from Florida. A little pricy and the shipping was extremely high comparing to Cichlid Express or Imperial Tropical. However he has what I wanted so I went for it.Wow fish look awesome. Where did you get them from? 8 weeks seems excessive to me. I think most quarantine for 3- 4 weeks. I usually feel safe after 3 weeks.
Agree! I am stocked for my 125 and my future 300. Just trying to figure if I should order some syno or CL, I know CL are not the right type for African tank but I really like them and I see a lot of tanks have them.I'm all for paying extra to get what you want . Think you made out ok haha
