Is this tank overstocked

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Exactly, it’s the same with chickens we have she always complains about the rooster being too aggressive and always harassing the hens but she refuses to do anything about it
That’s mating for chickens I believe.

From the little I know about chickens I’m pretty sure roosters need to be separated so that they cannot harass the females too much. Same way with any harem breeders.

Yea I know but it ruins their feathers and she’s spent money on these apron things for the hens that protect from that but also whenever you go into the gated area the rooster just gets mad and follows you everywhere he eyes you down and for no reason will flog you ( not sure if that’s the right word I can’t think of it atm)

Hey, the tank is definitely overstocked but not as bad imo as others have been saying. 29 gallon should be fine for the angelfish, ropefish, tetras. I would recommend rehoming the common plecos since they provide a lot of waste and will grow massive. More importantly, to solve the tank issues, try lowering the photo period, reduce feeding. These algae blooms mean something in your tank is off balance and fixing that will help with the clarity of the tank. Obviously, bioload will affect the water quality, but rehoming all your fish and starting over is definitely an over reaction. I recommend adding some pothos or other floating plants to help suck up the nutrients. Additionally, more frequent water changes as others have mentioned will help your situation. Good luck!

She mainly wants the frogs everything else is just fill space but it’s either the frogs or a majority of the fish are going to have to move I’ve suggested buying a 20g tank but she says there’s nowhere to put it, we have a big table In the living room with nothing but garbage on it I’ve offered to clean it for her but she doesn’t want me to I just don’t know, some people aren’t meant for fish. But a 20g with a lid would be cheap then buy a little 15$ filter but idk she just doesn’t understand the hobby

She said just now that she is definitely keeping the frogs and angelfish for sure which I think that would be okay with but also have a couple Cory cats or smaller pleco species. And I said ok so I’ll try to sell all the other stuff and she says “no I don’t wanna be driving around meeting people I’ll just flush them instead” yes I said something a child should probably not say to their parent but I told her “you’re actually stupid, that’s just a waste of money you could at least try to sell them instead of wasting money” she said that I’m never happy with the fish, yes I am I’m very happy for the fish and thankful for them but when they are living in these conditions it’s not acceptable and I told her that if she would just listen to me for once then you’d be a lot better off in life instead of wasting money try making money for a change. I know it’s disrespectful but it’s true and if I didn’t tell her that then nothing would ever change, I’m just going to put up for sale the tetras, barbs and plecos rather she likes it or not it’s what’s best for the entire situation. Sorry for ranting and venting on here but thank you guys for all advice and help

Good luck, it seems at least your mom has agreed with the downsizing. For the time being maybe you could add the plecos to a separate tank (I’m assuming you have a fish tank as well) also, for a quick way to rehome fish, try Craigslist or your local fish store and maybe get some store credit. Tbh, common plecos are not worth much these days and you def won’t be able to get much money for them so giving them away for free or for cheap would be the best option.

If I put the plecos in my 40g then my fish would not agree with it and then I got dead pleco
