Hey, Jordan, here's your triggers!

Breeding black PiranhaThe black piranha (S. rhombeus) is hard to breed in captivity due to their aggressiveness towards each other. The species has been breed in public and private aquariums that are large enough to house several adult specimens without them causing damage to each other due to the aggression. Black piranhas can be breed in home aquariums but will most likely require an aquarium of at least 2000 L / 500 gallon and perhaps twice that size.

The black piranha breeding aquarium should be densely planted with plants such as Vallisneria, Cryptocoryn., Aponogeton and Echinodorus. You will need to give your black piranhas a varied diet to get them into spawning condition. Recommended water values are in some degree related to which river in the Amazon your black piranhas originate from but pH 6 and 24-28C / 75-82 F can be used to breed most strains. The water should be very soft to breed this species. Rain season simulation helps trigger the fish to spawn. The eggs are laid in pits in the sand and are protected by the parents. Black piranha eggs hatch after approximately 2-3 days. The fry is best feed very small food such as infusoria during the first days and then newly hatched brine shrimp.

Hopefully that'll be somewhat helpful in condition any males you may find. The website for referance!! http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/predatory/blackpiranha.php

We already got the eggs!! Now we need to get the sperm! Plus we know no one that has a mature male. I told him he should have left the eggs in there for a few days just in case a miracle could happen....Wishful thinking. Atleast we know Lucy is a girl!

I know!! Good thing you picked a girl name!! ^_~

Too bad I don't have (insert large amount of money here)!! I would've bought a male in a heartbeat, and let you guys borrow or have him!! lol, not to sound crazy, but it probably would've been HAVE, b/c I want to raise my own. lol

That's why her color was so deep though, she was getting ready to prove her gender!! Us girls stick together!! LOL

We could've only hoped for an immaculate egg-laying.... *sigh*

(Btw, Brian boughted me a new fishy today...AND I have a cichlid question for you. BUT, I'll PM you, so we don't take over Jordan's thread!!)

Anyways, remember she's healthy and happy with you guys!! ^_^

You do know Rhoms take forever to get as big as Lucy?!? She was probably wild caught at her size. Anyway, I don't want to take over the thread either, but we are probably going to bed now so PM me and I will check it out in the morning.

We got a new cichlid today too!! (I'm guessing your new fish is a cichlid?!?)

Another thing...female tortoises can have eggs hatch up to 4 years after being away from a male. They just hold the sperm until needed. So you never know!! (more wishful thinking) Even if they did hatch though, we would need about 200 10 gallon setups to house them all separately!!! I wonder how old they are until they need to be separated?? Otherwise, we would have to sell them dirt cheap just to get them gone so that they dont kill each other...and of course I would bring you one!

lol!!

I don't care how long it takes....I can be patient!!

*stares at Whip* Grow......Grow......Grow.......dangit GROW!! LOL

it's not a cichlid....you'll have to read my PM to find out what it is....maybe by then, I'll have pics!! ^_^

Aww, Davey should get one too, he's cool!! ^_~

ANYWAYS, back to black rhoms called Lucy!! LOL There really isn't a whole lot of info on google about rhoms!! -_-* ohwell......when I'm famous, I'll get you guys a HUGE tank, and Lucy can pick her own boyfriend! ^_~
