I need some ideas on housing for multiple snakes. I know a lot of people use rack systems, but I want something slightly more spacious and less expensive.

I've been thinking about plastic bins with locking handles, but wow these damn things are expensive!

How do you house multiple colubrid snakes?

Look how much this plastic box costs:

Oh wow. You should be able to find something cheaper than that. Try a hardware store.

Have you thought about rubbermaid totes?

I checked out the rubbermaid site, but I dunno, I'm worried about the snakes getting out through the sides unless I can find a rigid lid type of tote.

Do you think any of these would work:

Plastic boxes and what not...

Yeah. I'm sure most of those would work just fine. I use the kind with the latchable lid to transport alot of my bigger snakes. Given the holes aren't too big, they should work great for your guys.

Maybe I over estimate their strength, but I'm worried about the snakes pushing up on the lid and bending it making it easy to escape.

Is that paranoia?

Stick to racks. It will be easier for you. I have a friend that uses racks to house knob tail geckos, womas and blackheads. :D

Any suggestions on make/model??

I'm only looking to house three snakes, a mexican black king, and two corn snakes.

Yeah.... My 12 ft. Burmese cant push the lid off that latchable box. I doubt your king snake will be able to lol.

dude reread the link you posted

they are not 98 dollars each they are 98 dollars for a set of 5

like others mentioned the locking lid totes will be fine for your colubrids. Some of the worlds largest breeders use them with no problems. BHB etc
