Yeah.... My 12 ft. Burmese cant push the lid off that latchable box. I doubt your king snake will be able to lol.

Oh okay haha in that case....

i use starilite totes they have locking lids and are cheap at walmart you could get a 46qt for like $9 and i also use a heat cable on it and have no problems (dont put directly on it)

I'm not familiar with heating cable, how is that used?

dude reread the link you posted

they are not 98 dollars each they are 98 dollars for a set of 5

like others mentioned the locking lid totes will be fine for your colubrids. Some of the worlds largest breeders use them with no problems. BHB etc

Oh you're right, I didn't catch that. $20 still seems a little pricey for a plastic bin. It is fairly large though.

that seems a little pricey actually you should be able to fined a cheaper tub

It would be a little more pricey but you could make a cage out of wood

DIY for reptiles :D?

I'll make a wood enclosure when I get an iguana (yeears from now...)

For now, I want to keep it as cheap as possible since it's just the three colubrids; the BP is going in a 40g breeder tank that I have.

I've thought about 20g longs, but I think the snakes need more space than that, even though it's the recommended minimum.

the smaller snakes can actually get out of those tubs really easy. they don't use there heads but their whole bodies. they can get in the grove between the lid and the tub itself and use their bodies to push the lid up. a simple solution is to secure the lid with zip ties and make a door in the middle of the lid which is now secured to the tub itself.

Are you suggesting to secure the DIY door to the tub, using zip ties as well?

I've thought of using those clips to bind paper together that have a really tight hold, as a method to secure the lids.

I've also thought of a rarack, but they're too damn expensive. I gotta find a smaller one.

It's just plastic!!! haha
