I've got some Paddlefish!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your fish should do fine while you are away. Don't try to force feed. We have kept them off of feed for a week at a time before shipping overseas to depoop them without any problems. They will start to open their mouths in about three weeks. Get ready for some awesome photos.

Way cool!! So are these your prize fish now?

Other than my black jump rock, redfin pickerel and bullheads yes they are. paddlefish are really facenating to watch, they remind me of sawfish in the way they swim.

They have started to do the wide open mouth thing every once in a while, i wish my camera could focus close up better.

They are not damaging their paddles, three of them have a very minor ding but so far that is all. Send me the money to buy a stand and a filter and I'll be glad to set up the 75.... As I can and as they need it i will set up bigger tanks, I have quite a few laying around, the idea here is that these are runts and will not grow past 12" or so, so far their growth has been very slow, maybe 10% in two weeks, as they get larger growth should slow, i have it on very good authority they will not grow too large for my capabilities and I'm testing that with these fish.

Disaster! Almost! The marineland 200 filter on the tank quit last night for about two hours, it was the only source of aeration. I finally got it to work again, i have no idea why it quit. It's only two weeks old so now I am thinking of getting another filter, a bad filter hurting these fish would be unacceptable.

One of them is dying tonight, it was the smallest and never really ate well, probably be dead in the morning, i put a chunk of bog wood in the tank to see who they deal with obstacles, so far pretty good.... They are eating now as i watch, live daphnia, all the rest are doing and looking good.
