Jack Dempsey - Visual Growth Rate

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, raising a fish solo does wonders for its growth rate. 0 competition for food, 0 stress from other fish, 0 energy spent fighting off other fish, 100% spent on eating and growing, lol. Also frequent water changes help as well. Constant flow of water is a major boost.

I just got a pair of Jacks about the size of yours as well. I bought them to accompany a juvenile Red Tail Cat while he grows up. Mine are in a 29 gallon. I'll be watching yours to see your progress and compare it to mine. I'll try and post pics at some point too.

Sounds good, keep an eye on your RTC, in about ten minutes he will be big enough to eat your jacks :D RTC grow so fast.... Once the RTC goes to the pond/huge aquarium maybe you could get a 75 or at least a 55 for your jack pair. Good luck

Hey everybody, It has been a week so time for another update. The Jack is still growing in length and width. Length from tip to tip is at least 3 1/2", probably closer to 3 3/4". He is still nice and fat. Has been eating his normal diet and was fed a huge mosquito and a nice fat grub. His color is lookin really good, the black spot on his side has mostly disappeared. I am thinking about starting him on frozen krill next week.

My wife, daughter and I are moving into our new house next week as well. I am going to transfer most of the water gravel and decor in 3 5 gallon buckets, which I will use to fill a 30 gallon, which will be his new home for the next week or two, a few days before the moving of his 55 gallon. I will be transferring all established bio-media so I am hoping the will take less time to re-cycle the 55 gallon. I hope all goes well.
