I am not seeing this red you folks are talking about, looks like a male tank breed to me.

if you are talking about ware the gill fin meats with the body, not an issue,looks like a netting injury, hyper extension. being a new fish I would still treat with paragaurd, better safe than sorry. mretroplex as mentioned pretty much the same thing.

as an FIY, melefix and pimafix. cure nothing, they are good for prevention, say fish gets hurt but showing no infection. but once there is a problem they do not do allot.
