Jaguar fries...Help...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah about food already tried some sinking pulverised food but didn't seem some action from fries...may be later they will eat...

The fry will also feed off the parents slime coat but keep offering food they may be eating and you may not see it lol the fry also find tiny micro foods naked to the human eye. Do you have any algae in the aquarium?

Yeah it's a first spawning of them...
They will spawn every 3 weeks if u let them. It's up to you if you want to keep them in the community or give the pair their own tank, but there will be MILLIONS of fry in your tanks between now and until you split the parents up. A piece of nylon over the filter intake will keep the babies from getting sucked up, or a piece of fabric screen mesh, and I agree w/ crushed flake food, but also give them baby brine shrimp for 2 weeks, then Daphnia
Its a very exciting experience congrats. :) The only negative with first time spawning is that sometimes the parents will eat the fry but lets hope for the best.
Haven't even had the 125 up for 5 days and my 2 Jags are showing signs they are a pair. Thought I had 2 females until dan518 dan518 said something about the largest one being male last week. That's like 3 or 4 pairs I found this past week or so lol lucky me

first fry fun, you can keep them seperated from the rest, or move to a nurse tank, pre-filter sponges on your intakes a must or they will get sucked up.

just to go a bit more on it. I use a old coffee grinder for grinding up pellets, with pre-filters on the intakes the fry will feed off the sponges from the food sticking to it.

I shoot pulverized food into the school with a turkey baster or pipette.

your other fish will probably polish off a number of fry, but that's OK, you may find there is little market in one area if you have too many.
The biggest problem I see, is that the parents may wound or even kill your other fish if they get a chance while protecting the fry.
