Jaguar hybrid is destroying his tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I checked the temp on the tank when I got home. The heater was set at 80, however they don't work when they aren't plugged in! I reset it to 76 and plugged it in. I don't remember unplugging it, but oh well. The actual temp when I checked yesterday was 67. Might explain why I wasn't attacked so much on the last water change. Water is back up to 76 this morning and he seems to be happy and full of attitude like usual. Taking out his attitude on the heater again. Good thing it really is indestructible.

Good thing you checked that was definatly a little cold. I wish i could exactly put my finger on what ur jag is crossed with. I wanna say freddie but his fins look like he has dovii in him. I just dont think if it was crossed with a freddie it would be that big, but with a dovii it definately would. Some hybrids are just so hard to tell. Did you ever figure out his mix

Not sure, the lfs couldn't tell me. If he is mixed with dovii, I have what I wanted to start with. I had a dovii several years ago. He's between 2-3 years old is all I know. I guess that definitely would mean getting a bigger tank next year. I remember thinking when I got him, I really hope he isn't crossed with anything too big. He's gained 2 inches since I got him about 4 mos ago. If he is crossed with dovii, how big do you think he could get and how big a tank will I possibly need eventually? I'm keeping him no matter what. I kind of like the idea that he might be part dovii. I always did like those. That would make him both of my favorite fish.

Either you are an early riser or you have an early job, I didn't think anyone would be up at that hour but me.

Yea i got early job. If it is dovii cross it could possibly get 20" + hard to say. But honestly if i was u i would shoot for a tank with 24" width. I would personally do 180gal + if you can afford it since u said he already 16". U can find them cheap on craigslish sometiimes. I only paid 100 for the 200 gallon my big male dovii is in. U might be able to get away with smaller but i would rather be safe than sorry. then u should not have to worry about.upgrade again.

Check out this freddie pic. This is why i also think freddy the pattern looks so possible to be it but parachrimis hybrids suck to id most of the time.

simages

im starting to think this might be it. i found very few jag dovii hybrid pics but they all seem to have the dovii lateral line.

I'll have to get the pic when I get to another computer. My work computer won't let me do a lot of things on it. I have to use someone else's to upload or do very much on. Work system is somewhat restrictive.

Yeah I said Fred because it looks alot like my big male La Ceiba. It just has the Jag head.

Good glad im not the only one that sees it i think we may have a positive id on him. The pic i tried to post dont look like it worked but its of oddly enough it was of the la ceiba. The pic is on like the first page if you google search images of them. I know from what ive heard freddies got additude problems too, so his temperment definately makes scense.
