That looks like it might be right. The pattern looks very similar. Nice looking pair, are they tank destroyers too? Not that I mind too much, I did set my tank up with that in mind. How big are those 2? I don't have my books with me, so I can't remember how big Freddies get. I was looking for a big fish with an attitude, guess I got one now! I like him a lot.

Not 100% shure but i think freddies get like 12" maybe 14".

I think that got it, I was just checking on the net and found another picture looks like him, just mine has jaguar head markings. One of the articles indicated that Freddies and Jaguars interbreed frequently in native environment. Looks like mine may have reached full size, based on what I was reading just now. At least I hope so... Thanks everyone so much for the help. That's why I like this site so much. The lfs in my area was of no help in finding out what he was or what to possibly expect. Now I've got a good idea where he gets that attitude of his! I still like him anyway, wouldn't want him any other way.

The article I found said 12 inches. I always wanted a big fish with attitude, my family just wants to cook him on the grill.

Always glad to help. The parachromis family has always been my fav. IMO they have the best personality so long as you dont mind thier temper. You definately have a great looking fish know you love him more and more the longer youve had him.

He might not be up to a dovii in size, but he is as close as I am going to get for now. He is at least in that family, sort of. He is big, not so big I can't take care of him easily. I still want a dovii or bay snook someday, but no way do I currently have the space. I don't mind his attitude at all. My white feline cat might one day regret sitting on top of the tank and dangling his tail in there. I see a distinct predatory look sometimes from below the water line... When I hear a screech and a thump from the living room, I guess I'll know what happened.

If you want check out my youtube channel promtracer got some videos of some of my beasts on there, and will be adding more. I would personally in the future recommend the dovii over the snook when u have the room ive had a snook and still have dovii snooks are georgous but mine lacked the personality and in your face attitude i love.

All I can have right now are my 2 tanks, mine seem so small in comparison to everyone else on here. It really makes me want to move up to a dovii. Like you said, dovii have more personality. I have tried both in previous years and the snook was somewhat secretive. The dovii seemed more active and friendly. Either way, I could not have raised them to maturity in a 75 gallon tank. I know better now than I did then. Dovii are also easier to find when the time comes. Now if I could just find some decent scavenger cats. Lfs in my area don't carry much selection in catfish.
