This is good stuuf J... I have been thinking of doing this but to cheap to spend on all the equipment... looking at your set up, its change.

Q... with that filter you installed from the "Filterguyz", does this eliminate the need condition the water ie;"Prime"?
no prime, no nothing, just the filter.

When it comes to these things, im clueless...

This is a system just like most others, right?

I have seen some systems with the use of Prime too... whats the diff when using water conditioners to the systems?

Is it the same as having an extra canister to the tank... the more the better?

J's system is alot like mine(but actually his is fancier!), and i pretty much copied rallysman's system.

some prefer to use the dosers for prime, but im too damn cheap to do that when a simple carbon filter will do the same thing with no chance of a mechanichal failure like you could have with a doser.

not like a canister filter at all, just no more waterchanges!

I'm going to stick with the old fashion way, a tube and a bucket.

no difference really. theyre both the same concept but use different methods to remove chlorine and chloramine. the end result is pure water, just different ways of getting there.

this is Li's Chemilizer. it draws Prime from the bucket and mixes it with incoming water to remove chlorine/chloramine:

and this is my version, using granular activated carbon. different methods, same result:

another thing, you should check your local water supply to see if they even add chloramines. my city doesnt, so a simple carbon filter would have worked just finr to remove chlorine. but i went ahead and got the chloramine system since they cost almost the same :)

LOL, do you still use a VCR and a pager? ;)

wow i never even thought about using a waterline tapper for a fridge... that would be so easy, then just run it through the filters like u did. no sweating pipe!! wow i did it the hard way

LOL:ROFL:

Hmmm... you got me thinking real hard now about this 24/7 water change:naughty:

Have you called the city to reduce the sewage usage? If im not mistaken the inspectors will come out and see it is being used to water the plants and will give you a small break on the sewer part of the bill
