If you like ug filters then fine, they do work yes but any hob or canister would be a much much better choice with zero down sides. small fish can get stuck under the filter plates as well as fry. They are just old school.

They did know what they are doing. As do I. Ive run UGF for over ten years successfully and my father for over 20 years. Dont go buy a canister just because someone says its better. Use the undergravel and vacuum the gravel routinely. Also pick up a power filter something like a Aqua clear series or marineland penguin or emperor.
