If you want to have a filter that takes a lot of maintanence, keep the UGF, if you want something that does bio filtration AND mechanical filtration all in one, get an aquaclear or canister filter, heck I say get a sump/wet dry filter. Keep the air pump and get an air stone and hook it up and bury it under the gravel. I like having sand in my tanks so I have no use for an UGF.
It only requires a little more maintenance than gravel (without UGF) in general.... Just vac during every water change :screwy::ROFL::ROFL:
