Jealous girlfriend?

my bf lets me talk to him about my fish, but then half an hour later he actually falls asleep! he knows i love them, so if we have an argument, he talks about my plec (how is your catfish the big one is he still eating vegetables lol) so that he can cheer me up again! he knows nothing about fish, but he tolerates them for my sake, he just doesn't know why i have to do waterchanges every week, he says to me "throw him in the tank, he'll be able to survive its only water" so yeah, he does tolerates my fish because of me, but i don't think he finds it interesting but he pretends to be and i'm not too demanding so i'm happy!

AH! As I was reading the first post, I was like man... I'm going to have to type everything out... but my b/f is JUST the same! Now granted he thought it was strange I had a lot of catfish... but after I let him try to feed the Redtail, he thought it was pretty cool. He talks about them here and there and likes to see them when he comes over. Makes me happy. I know I can ramble about it a lot and he always is there to listen. I try to make it small talk so it's not like over whelming him. I can get carried away sometimes.... lol

lol yeah i do that too! i start to talk about what my fish has been doing in the tank today, and if they had arguments or anything...and then i'm like "hello?" and i can hear him snoring on the other side of the phone lol

As soon as my LFS gets one in, its mine! He said they dont come around too often.

My ex wife hated my fish, notice I said ex.. LOL

My current wife loves fish and would have 1000 rtc if i had room to house them all....

Well I guess you took it to the extreme lol.

My g/f likes fish. I got my first tank back in december (greatest xmas pressent ever) and then I went and got another and another and another. and now I have 2-125s 1-75
1-10. And she wanted one so I let her have my first tank a 5 hex and then I went all out for her b/c she wanted it and she's worth it. and got her a 54 corner. The only problem is I want another BIGGER tank and she gets all bent out of shape about it b/c she doesn't have a ring yet. SOOOOOOO... basically all I got to do is get her a ring and I can have my 300+ (I think thats doable)

Thats exactly the situation I'm in! Execpt I have less money then you.

heh, when I get crap for spending to much time with the fish I always remind my girl I could always start a new hobby such as gambling and strip joints..... she usually drops the issue after that

Unfortuneatley I cant try that because those are my other 2 hobbies

And PS, I never realized how many female members there were.

i tell my girlfriend SHE STARTED it ...

she had a 2.5g that she had sitting around ... needless to say i wanted to put 15 fish in it (the LFS wouldnt let me) ... and thats when i got hooked ...
a friend sold me a 20,
then i found a 20 and a 30 for free
then i bought a 29
then i was given a 55
and yesterday i set up my new 180 !!!! :> :> :> :>

needless to say our little appartment is now as much water as it is anything!! everything is runing except the 55, and i spend a lot of time on this site looking and reading, and she reads all the funny stuff, and looks at the good pictures, and stuff like that
i tell her its better then if i were surfing the web for p0rn ...hahaha

she got jealous when i was on here 3-4 hours a day, but i have cut back now that i have learned a lot, and i tell her now that i finally have my big tank, i will stop constantly looking for tanks and fish!

haha, my b/f hasn't fallen asleep on me.... yet. lol. But I am so thankful he is supportive and welcomes them with open arms My bigger RTC sealed the deal for it.

My hubby likes to look at the black lionfish..and enjoys the planted discus tank..my monsters not so much..keep in mind this is a man saying this.... "They look icky"

That's a really great story Akin. Although it sounds as though you rigged it so a fish would die. I'm kinda lucky me and my girlfriend got into fish at the same time. We both live with our parents still. She has a 100g and a 55g at her house both containing large central american cichlids. I have a 150g, 50g and a 30g. We want to move out together as soon as possible and I want to get a 300g in the dining room for my baby peacock bass and rtc followed by a big indoor pond, but she would rather have a dining table and chairs. I guess I'll have to try and bring her to reason.

its pretty equal here. we get into squabbles more about what we want to get rather than the maintenance or time spent looking at the fish etc.

Well, the girlfriend at first thought my obsession was weird (met her here at uni) until she came back to visit my house and saw my tank. Then we set up a small tank at uni (30L) and then she wanted one at her house, so she now has a 40L at hers.

We're moving into a place next year and luckily all my house mates are well up for the 280Gal i'm sorting so it's gonna be goood.

My ex however.... well, she was a differnt case altogether.
