Well... this arrives tomorrow morning...

One of the meanest looking Betta's I've seen! Hoping he isn't too mean though - as I hope to compliment him with black cherry shrimp later down the mine!!

I think he'll love his new little puddle of paradise.
I think blue or orange shrimp would look better but looking forward to pics.

And he's home...

Just rubbish mobile phone photos - and he's only been in for a few hours having spent 24 hours in the post... I'm sure he'll colour up lots yet!

Not the slightest bit shy. Flaring at my phone and exploring no end. He's found secret tunnels in the driftwood wall that I no idea existed!

Nice humped back..

Nice finnage..

Exploring what's above a lot..

Scales like a dragon..!

I'm very happy with him.

Add some Galaxy or chili rasboras and it will be perfect.:cool-1:

The betta looks amazing! Any idea what breed it is? Looks kinda like a plakat.

Sold to me as a Black Copper HMPK. They appear to go by the name Black dragon too. Whatever he is, I think he looks fantastic. Just need to fatten him up and hopefully he's colours will really show in a few days once settled in.

He's had quite the journey given its very cold here in the UK right now!

Just a little update for anyone following...

The mosses have slowed down a bit.. but I know I just need to be patient.

The anubias on the other hand is booming with several new leafs.

And the betta is fattening up nicely.

Update....

Hope you all had a great Christmas.

Underwater, some rounded pebbles added from a local stream - to add a bit of depth and interest to the substrate.

Above water, the java moss is booming and growing tightly and keeping a nice green colour. Whereas the terrestrial mosses, whilst growing, is loose and long and rather pale. You'll notice I've swapped out some terrestrial moss for more java moss already.

I'm undecided yet... but I'm thinking of allowing the java moss to grow up the background as high as it can... and removing the terrestrial moss all together. Not sure how high the java moss will grow yet, given its distance from the water but recognising the 95% humidity. Thoughts?

I like the look of the terrestrial moss, so I’d leave it be. Though it would be nice to see how large the Java moss can get.
