jus added a breeding pair of convicts

Have been reading your thread and am really interested! I am a former angelfish person. Then went to discus, so you know how I like aggression in my tank....NOT!:nilly:
But in fact at one time I had some convicts, Jack Dempseys and green Texas so you caught my interest.

Hope you'll post lots of pictures.

ethnics,
Having similar experiance, your problem was in letting the cons establish their own territory. Odd as it may sound, P's prefer not to attack another fishes territory. As you found out the hard way, they will defend their territory with a ferocity seldom seen in other species. After you remove the cons and allow the P's free rein, cons can become a good food source. :D

Fair warning, if you don't use the cons as feeders, you will end up with hundreds, if not thousands of them.

Agree...

Personally, I think a 100g is still a little small for a healthy pygo shoal to exist with a breeding pair of convicts....I'd say breed the rabbits in their own tank and toss in the fry after reaching half inch....This way, you have a better reason of adding more tanks to the fish room, making it look cooler....20-30g for the rabit pair, and maybe one or two 10g tanks for the fry, or even a 50g for the fry....

Well today I pulled the two convicts(parents) out, they had actually taken over the tank. My RBPs were getting a little stressed and staying away from the cons. I left the fry in the tank though so my Ps could have a little snack.

I did it too . I bought three cons 1 male 2 female made them the little
land scape , They took it over . If I get fry I will remove . If the cons
get ate "O" Dam# . The male is albino or "white" if you will .
the two females are regular . I will post some pics when I get
Batteries for camera . It adds spice , Any pass down knowledge .
You may be bored with yours , But mine is just began . Let's go three
for three on cons and p"s

my cons are still in the piranha tank, i took out all the other distractions so its just the 9 rbp n the 2 convicts. i have no idea what happened to all my fry but owell lol. if they breed again then cool, if not then owell. i kinda gave up on actually trying to raise the babies except for the 20 i pulled out that im still raising. if the parents get eaten, ehh. if they don't then cool, they can live with some piranha. but honestly, the 9 piranha have not been the same really ever since i added these convicts. they seem more skiddish n stressed then before n dont really eat as agressively as they used to.

your cons may have eaten the fry themselves. I had two different pair eat there own fry. It was the first batch for each pair.

My white male cone is very protecting of his female's he went to lock lips with a piranha ,And the Big P did not do the same , I am glade because my Con would
be minus lips .

Hay ET will your P's still tare up gold'e' or is it harder for them to find there
roots and eat a large feeder with the cons in the tank . You did say they
are not the same with the Breaded Pare of con but I bet if removed them from
the pic , The p'S will bounce back .
