TOLD YOU DUDE!!! lol. it was just a matter of time and proper structure to make them more comfortable. all my fry are free swimmers already. mom n dad got very very agressive. ill keep updating as the fry grow.
the parents are doing a goodjob takin care of the fry. all are free swimmers now and cruise around as a pack like a cloud. i was afriad they'd eat all the babies in fear the babies might die, so i syphoned out about 30 babies and have them in a 10gal tank right now. feed very crushed pellets to the ones i pulled out, but the parents are doing the usual "chew n spit" routine for the ones there raising. but boy did they get mad when i pulled out some of the babies LOL
Ya I love how the cons attack my hand when I'm siphoning out the fry. I'm not sure my cons are going to make it though. They are very protective. But a 2" con head to head with a 7" RBP, just don't thimk it will end up very well. The parents are to the point of taking the fry out of the cave, which could lead to the end.
i know... im starting to get attached to them n i almost wanna take them out so i know they dont die lol. damn convicts... after this batch of babies, if they dissapear for some reason. im pullin the parents n keepin them.
Ya I hate it when I get attached to feeders I think I'm gonna pull the cons, the Ps are getting a little stressed with the sneak attacks from behind. The parents know the danger though they won't let the fry go far from the cave. But I'm not sure the Ps even know the fry exist.
yeah, i wanna pull them out with the babies, but is it safe to do that? i doubt i can even syphon all the babies out so should i just get what i can and leave the rest to die? i jus wanna pop them in a 10gal for now til i move all my fish n they'll get a 30gal to breed constantly in.
ok, here's a half update on this whole thing:
for some reason, when i looked in the tank today there was a large amount of babies that were for some reason out in the open... right smack dab in the middle of where the piranhas chill at ever since the cons took over the right side of my tank. so here is a good amount of babies sittin out in the open in the center of the piranhas jus chillin in the substrate basically and poppa convict was of course swimming in the middle of them "protecting" them. and boy was he gettin messed up. teeth marks all over his face/lips... i started feeling bad cuz all he's doing is protecting his young (which i have no idea why his babies are out in the open now). the other group of babies was still on the right side in the rocks n stuff. momma convict is still over there protecting the rest of the babies. i syphoned all the babies out in the open and pulled out poppa convict. later when i get off work i plan on syphoning out the rest of the babies n pulling momma convict aswell. cool attempt but i think its just not really fair for the convicts because all there trying to do is protect there young and have to do it against teeth filled flesh eating monsters..... ill post pics of the cons in there new home with all the babies later today.
