Just not pets

I was at a party a couple of years back, right after the snakehead ban in my state (PA). This dump*** guy had a huge snakehead in his apartment and some species of crocodile about 2 feet long. Not sure what species it was but it was a croc, not a camian or gator. I asked him where he got it but he wouldn't say. Now I wish I reported him because he is the type that would let the croc go in some water way around here when it got too big.

Oh yeah, and this one pet store near me is selling baby American Alligators for $100 bucks. What the hell is wrong with people?

At least it was $100... $100 reptiles usually end up sitting on the shelves for months, sometimes 2 years. I think LC said he saw people selling gators at expos for like $10-$30 each or something.
 
And he didn't buy one???
 
I don't think GAtors or Crocs should be available without a license.
 
Most of the places I've seen online that sell crocodilians claim they won't ship to states where they're illegal...I do wonder though.
 
some of these maynot be pets for all...but then again some of us can take care of them properly...like for the past 2 or 3 years i have been researching to buy a coatamundi...

That would be interesting.
A lot of these animals aren't pets. As Al Coritz says, "not pets, zoological specimens", and I'd agree.
 
Eh, it depend on how you define pet. The most widely accepted defination is either an animal companion or an animal kept for private enjoyment or entertainment. I do agree that most of us treat them as zoological specimens though.
 
i know a guy here in hawaii that supplies alot of the mainland US stores with saltwater fish that are native to hawaii...and when i went to his storage facility one day to pick up a panther grouper with my friend he had a 2200 pool type thing with a grey tip reef shark which he successfully sold and shipped to an aquarium in california for them to put in there shark tank...so i know that kind of had nothing to do with this thread but its just my way of saying their are responsible people out there who are handleing and taking care of the larger species that come along...tha thathat haththatha thats all folks(with a porky pig accent)
