if you are going with a canister filter then go with a inline heater like Hydor ETH 300 Inline heater. that way you don't have to look at it in the tank all the time and you can make the tank more natural looking. keep us posted looks great. eels are great fish. i have a fire eel and a tire track in my 210. you can train them to take food out of your hand.
Get some Istlanum, a pair. They are awesome fish and not something you see in the hobby everyday.
Would you mind posting up some pictures of the fish I should consider? I'm contemplating getting a few large fish rather than a school of small fish. Gotta love monster fish right?
Well, I used some different online tank caculators and realized I wasn't multiplying it with the right fraction. Come to find out my tank is actually a 145.87 
gotta love an extra 5.87 gallons. The guy I bought it off of said he bought it at the store as a 150 gallon.
