Kewpie's Pewpie err Fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well fellas as the great Blues Boy King once sang, the thrill is gone. I've started to seriously downsize, I don't have the will, time or desire to keep up with all of my fish anymore. I've heard stories from other people where downsizing has helped them enjoy the hobby again, I'm hoping that will work with me too.

I found a home for the puffers yesterday- one 55 down. Not sure if I documented this already but I moved the hets out of their 55- one more 55 down. I'm now happily down to a 30, 75 and 90. I'm going to move my JD into the 90, and give away 5 hets. That seems like a reasonable temporary stocking. I'm going to give away my severums, regani, and probably all of my polys.

I'm going to put my main man Buzz (Polleni) and his girl into my 75, along with two Ptychochromis Oligacanthus. I'm debating keeping one of my ornates in there too but probably not. I'll be able to tell when they need an upgrade. Although I'm sad to see some of them go I'm also enormously relieved. Going to rescape the 75 when my polleni get in there.

Im in the same boat brother and yes imo down sizing helps. Im in the middle of rehoming polys and figuring out if i really want to invest in the het breeding project.....big fish eat small fish...small fish need tanks...more tanks....more work....blah blah blah

It's a never ending cycle. I just want to take care of the fish that I truly love, my Polleni are more like dogs to me than fish. I'm actually very much looking forward to just having the 3 tanks and optimizing them as much as I can, instead of worrying about playing the constant upgrade game.

Sad to hear, I hope things get better for you now :)

Thanks Hendre Hendre I am very confident I'm making the right decision. Plus they're all going to a REALLY good home- guy has got 23 tanks, multiple indoor ponds, etc. He'll give them a better home than I ever could!

It's great that way. I get regular updates from people I sold fish to :)

This hobby is amazing with some very kind souls

Sorry to hear that but I also completely understand and support it. That should be a hobby we enjoy - not dread or are stressed out by.

I hope it works out with the Polieni pair - I know sometimes they can pick on each other. Can they live for life in the 75 as a pair? I can't remember tank size for them.

Do you notice a difference in the temperaments between your mail and your female?

The goal for me is two big tanks thats it. Easier to maintain than smaller ones. I think im done with the exploring and want to keep the fish i love or fish i always wanted to keep but never got around to because of all these little experiments

I'm going to have to upgrade the 75 eventually but I'm perfectly okay with that. The female is less aggressive for sure but they've always been together, he's good to her so far. He'll chase her but he has never ever actually hurt her. The other male I had that died would chase and bite her, instant karma's gonna get you...

That's what I thought but I wasn't positive. I know they grow slowly though.

When you get everything switched around and rehomed post some pics for us!

Are they equally interactive with you?

Sorry magpie magpie I missed this. Are you thinking about trying to get a female Polleni when the time comes? That could be a good idea. My female has just as much personality as my male, but it doesn't come out as much because of how boisterous he can be.
