Yes, I may live in the Philippines where the only thing I know that is illegal is Piranha (Then again, the Filipinos have never been diligent with following laws anyway, what with all the pirated DVDs of games, movies, anime, and etc being sold all over the place), but it still ticks me off hearing that some people who pass these bans/laws are being counter-productive to their own sayings by killing the fish rather than giving them a good home.

well i understand that morphs are technically the same species as wild but it still baffles me that we can't have them when they're technically not wild. they wouldn't release color morphs into the wild so let us have them and the wild ones can stay wild. we establish a few farms here in the southeast and whammo we're fine and tyhe wild ones are still in the wild.

Its alread been said that the US doesnt have the right climate to breed aros. Breeding asian aros isnt like making babies, you dont plop a male and a female in one tank and they'll just breed. Ive been to Singapore and Malaysia for a while a few years back. Sometimes they have about 40 aros in ONE pond and they still DONT breed. That tells you how hard it is. And anyways, do you really think there are many people taht would breed the natural strain that arent worth as much money just so they can save the environment? Hell no, most of the people would just breed the ones suited for aquarium trade JUST FOR THE MONEY. We live in a greedy world buddy. Not very much people are going to use that much money for a really small profit gain when they can use the same amount and gain alot more.

Well excuse me mister i know everything but maybe YOU should have read a little better. I proposed that we leave the wild ones illegal to have but we legalize the expensive color morphs because theyre not the wild fish. That's like saying because wild discus are endangered we can't have the color morphs like the neon blues or the malboro reds when they're not the wild fish. give us the morphs not the wild ones.

now piranha makes sense because they would decimate a local population if released. I'm not saying an asian wouldn't im saying asians cost so much no one would just throw it away like a tiny, inexpensive piranha

There arent much asian aro farms anyway. Even if they release the ban on US, do you really think US will be supplied with legal aros? Probably not as theres going to be quantity issues. Then either way, there would be illegal smuggling. Do you really think everyone knows that wild asian aros dont look the same as the captive bred ones? Definitely not, if you release the ban, theres going to be tons of people fishing em out from asia and then getting the to US and then finding out, they dont look the same at which time, they wont spend money to get it back to where they came from and either treats them as any other cheap fish or just kill them to save time.

what they dont understand is making them illegal just makes the people they are illegal too want them more...and as we all know...if you want a fish ban or not people who want them bad enough will find a way to get them.. and i mean seriously do they think they can hunt down every asain aro that is being illegally kept...and then kill them...that is insane...and the fact that anyone would think killing them over giving them to a zoo or whatever else...thats is even more insane...if they make them legal...people would be able to get thier hands on farm raised over wild caught and after a while the whole big deal of it all will die down just like flowerhorns...

and like i have seen on here.. who is going to spend that amount of money on a fish and throw it in there local river....so i agree i think its a much bigger issue then we will ever be told...the governemt is shady...always has been.
