L046 pleco setup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm not sure you need that strong of a current -- I had a smallish powerhead in a 40 breeder with my Zebras and the current seemed perfectly fine. Does your powerhead have a toggle to lower the flow a bit?

No it doesn’t toggle. I ended up putting this powerful one in my big tank and taking the smaller power head and putting it in this tank. There’s a decent flow now and it’s not blowing the sand around. I’m happy with it.

I added a bunch of my bn pleco fry in the tank for testing the filters and the zebras might be moving in the tank in a week or so.

I added a couple of plants and some driftwood. Just waiting for the driftwood to sink

Well I was way off! Looks big in your pictures! When will the others be joining?
As soon as I can catch them lol

they are in a tank with rocks and the rocks are all attached so I cannot take it apart and they wedge themselves into the crevices. I have to wait for them to come out and “hunt” them haha

I’ve ended up lucking into a group of 4 to replace the ones that have passed away.
My new tank setup now has 5 L46’s and 3 remain in the 60g cube as o cannot catch them.

the new guys ar about an inch big.

So I haven’t updated his thread in a long time.

it has been a bit of hard times as I’ve purchased and lost so many zebras, I’ve lost count of how many I have bought and lost that I’m not even sure how many I own anymore. I believe my number of living zebras to be between 7-9 split between two tanks.

one tank has 2-3 that I cannot catch bc they live under a rock and only come out at night time. Another tank has between 5-7 and I also don’t see them much as they hide and cave and have excavated their own caves.

sometime in the last week or so I have been blessed with fry and didn’t know it. They have hatched and are now wrigglers in the cave.

I’ve conducted their large weekly water change today and the water level always drops lower than the cave they were laid in forcing dad out of the cave during the water change. (I would not have done this if I knew he was on eggs). He has not since return to the wrigglers. They are doing fine and should survive just fine without dad as there is no threats in the tank. Only shrimps and bn fry live with them.

I counted 5-6 wrigglers!
