I know in Australia, it's the opposite. Jardinis are much rarer/more expensive and Leichardtis are abundant/cheaper. As for the rest of the world, Jardini are readily available due to them being mass bred in Asia. I believe Leichardtis are still only coming out of Australia (I think captive bred ones) in smaller quantities thus the higher price. It's possibly like you said Leichardti may be more difficult to breed in captivity, so we haven't seen them being bred in Asia yet.You are correct fellas. My bad.
I’m from Queensland originally. It’s strange to me that the Lei’s are harder to source. The Jardine River is much less accessible than the Leichardt RiverFar North Queensland is cut off by monsoon rains for 3-4 months each year. The only access is by air as the river crossings are under raging flood waters. Perhaps they’re more difficult to breed in captivity
FYI, in Australia we call them Saratoga, not arowana.
