Are you calling Richard an idiot??:grinno:

Anyway, great looking gator. Love the coloring even though it will likely change with time...I didn't know there were 2 Hal's before this. Any insight as to the one most people wouldn't be familiar with?

after re-reading my post it does look that way.

Missed out on the other thread...I've spent all morning googling "dwarf caiman gar" to no avail :)

I've been toying with a pond idea for awhile, something simple like one of those aboveground pools. After more thought I've pretty much scrapped the idea of heating it for tropical fish and figured I'd go with southern natives (which would of course include a gator). Can a large gator gar be kept with anything at all, or is it really a choice between by itself or not at all?

Besides shrimp, what are you feeding? Whats your current water changing schedule and what % will you be changing out?

I have not even fed the little guy yet.. Sol had him for a few days and stuffed him so he will be good for a short bit. As soon as I do get him feeding it will be the usual gar mix of Frozen and prepared foods every other day. (I.E.. shrimp, fish fillet, silversides, krill, Gel diet, pellets Etc.)

Standard procedure for small gars is a 50% water change every two days or so. Once the fish is big enough to be stepped up (should be a week or so) it will go in with the Cuban gars (75% weekly waterchange) for a bit and then off to the big holding pool for the rest of the summer. (75% weekly waterchange)

I am going to so nail you on this one later Jordan.....
