Whats so bad about killing a large gator?
I ask myself the same question! :)

Gators and Bald Eagles are two great examples of successful conservation.

The numbers AND range of the American Alligator is really growing fast! Heck last summer I saw a dead one that had been hit by a car on I-65 just a few miles south of Birmingham Alabama!

Killing a few large and potentionally VERy dangerous gators is ok in my book. Besides, fried gator tail is yummy and a pair of gato skin boots is down right uber cool!

Is the range of gators growing fast or are they simply seen more because more houses, etc are being built in areas where they are found?

Why do we have a right to kill it ? That gator has never bothered anyone nor left the immediate canal area.

Seems here in S.Florida thats the answer to every gator phone call -Send someone to kill it.

The storm drain pipe that he laid on, could be at least 6ft or 8ft diameter

Yes pipe is big . In summer its submerged maybe a foot exposed but its rained drops in last few months .

Do you wait until it kills someone, you familiar with the word "proactive"

I lived in Florida for 30 years in the Ft Myers area, I have seen the big gators in the Glades, I have seen them eat hunting dogs. Big gators near people are not productive for people or domesticated animals.

This guy isnt going to kill anyone unless you go in the canal water itself. Sure they eat hunting dogs because the dogs enter their world.

It would be unreal if they didnt eat the hunting dogs. I see nothing wrong nor unusual about that.

I go cichlid fishing in an area where some hunt boar with American Bulldogs . The gator isnt the problem its the person who subjects his dogs to that danger.
They act like the dog has the right away and the big gators should know this.

Considering the amount of scars on these dogs and torn muzzles surprised they care at all.

Look on the internet around Sanibel Island a couple of years back a female was mowing her grass near a canal, she was attacked and killed by a gator. Is she not allowed to mow the lawn near the canal?

That would be your assumption, I guess.

You from Florida?

I recently posted that exact link in another post.
However this particular easy going well fed gator in yrs before I moved here has never left immediate canal area.

If he did than nowhere to hide as its all mowed grass or parking lots.
Again in their territory they will kill you and that attack took place in bushy ,concealed lake shore.

I am from the great NY .Long island to be exact . Moved here 1.5 yrs ago .
Dont agree with many of these backward kill type policies.
