Local News: Man bitten by pet viper

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^Permits are definetaly necisary. Think... if anyone could get ahold of venomous snakes, they would end up just like OTHER Reptiles that are beyond the care of a normal person.

Abused
Biting people
Released

And then they would become 100% illegal to everyone.

Meth and gaboon viper venom doesn't mix
Quote"Police said that Painter was intoxicated and that when they went back to the house where the bite occurred they found drugs that they said belonged to him. Police said they continue to investigate."
He should either get a permit to keep vipers or a permit to smoke meth:ROFL:

LOL what a douche. That's like playing with a loaded gun that fires by itself.

Playing catch with an unstable bomb.

I really hope more stuff like this doesn't happen, I'd like to keep a hot or two someday and if more dumbasses get bitten they may become illegal.

:iagree: but i think if they ban them there'll be such an uproar that they'll have to lift the ban.

to be honest i think hots shouldnt really be aloud as pets anyways and this is why most people shouldnt and this is a gaboon viper why the hell would you do that to a gaboon viper..hes gonna probably gonna do it again if the snake wasnt taken away..anyways i cant believe people are even aloud to keep such venomous things..to bad it wasnt a taipan =) sure they have beautiful colors but seriously get some responsibilities before you take care of hot..i personally still say non venomous snakes are awesome enough and to me more fun

I think people should be able to keep what ever they want to if they do it responsibly. I don't care if you have a dozen killer whales in your backyard as long as you have the proper housing and care for them.

permits are not neccisary. self policing has worked quite well. this isnt a common occurance. Experineced hot keepers get bit by thier own reptiles as well. we have a experience hot keeper on here that got bit by his own black mamba.

If ur gonna make a permit process for hots might as well make one for dogs which cause far more injurys.

I understand the want/desire for permits but look at our gov. We do NOT need to give them more power. They WILL just continue to inact laws against it. We already as hobbiest(reptiles, mammals and fish) have to constantly watch and fight against special interest groups(IE PETA, Big cat rescue, HS) to protect our right to keep our animals. They constantly push for BS legislature(IE HR669, florida python ban, the current bill banning 9 species of pythons from US import) and we have to watch and fight it. Why encourage more headaches and pain by adding permits into the mix? We will constantly have to fight to keep regulations on the permits resonable. Its just not something we should support going to IMHO
