Sorry AJ but LP is prettier ;)

On topic, I find the picture of him with the gaboon around his neck hilarious but sad at the same time.

x2 on everything you said.

HURRAY!!! IM BEAUTIFUL!!! lol. even chris thinks so:perv:

i do need to get a spell check on my computer. ud figure with an IQ of (cough cough ahem, u dont need to know) id know how to spell...... :duh:

oh good god and he has already passed on his genes too!

getting back on topic though, I dont think that going without permits is the right way to do it. There are just too many greedy people that dont care who they sell a hot to and too many idiots that want a hot. I think that even just a simple permit that requires you to fill out a questionnaire and pay a small fee would prevent a lot of bites like this one. In any case, the permit would have to be accessible to the right people, it couldn't be impossible to get like it is in some states.

I stand behind FL's permit system. Here, you will not find a story of a drugged up idiot getting bit- just normal idiots. No system is fool proof because there are just too many fools to look out for but I think that the training regiment required by FL is the closest thing there is to a fair and safe permitting method.

problem with urs is someone like myself(married kid etc) getting 1000 hours and 2 letters of recongmindation(ROFL spelling) would be very very diffcult. i might have 1 or 2 hours a day to work on my stuff(sometimes more, sometimes less) if the closest person is 30 min to 1 hour away, well looks like im not getting any time in. unless ur single with the world able to pour into the time required it would be highly diffucult. Id prefer if a permit was required(GOD dont encourage them, GOV IS BAD!! GREEDY! we dont need more laws to fight to remain fair) that is would be a simple, they come and inspect u pay a small fee(small is key word) reinspect once or twice a year and a simple questionaire.

again, ill give an example of PA's exotic animal permit process. I want a serval. I will have to work or vol at a certified center(which there is few) for 2 years taking care of that exact breed for the full 2 years. sounds simple right? it isnt. they make it hard to get the permit. have very strict regulations on enclosures and the time the animal may be out of the cage(NEVER) so on and so forth. Then lets use snakeguy for an example(Sry chris). Lets say he got his permit for his eyelash vipers(if we needed one, just an example). Now he wants to get cobras. Unless he had first had care of cobras during those 2 years, he must start anew for that permit. he wants a gaboon and didnt get 2 years of FIRST hand care(IE u must be caring for it, no i worked with the cobras and they were beside the gaboons) he must start anew.

on top of all that, they DO NOT want to give permits, nor are they giving them ATM. sound like something yall would want?

they would never stop nor make it simple or a fair process. it wouldnt be long before special interest groups would have thier hands in the pockets of law makers and would make it worse.

IE gun laws are a perfect example. the assault weapon ban a few years ago anyone? :nilly:

You do have a good point but if you know what you are doing and the person training you will almost always sign off on a few extra hours (for instance, I had a weekend herping trip turn into 100 hours on paper). it just depends on how good you are doing and when you are ready. I am all for the government keeping their hands out of our hobby but do you really think that preventing them from imposing permits would help? If anything it would make it worse without permits because of stunts that people like this guy pulled. Read some of the comments, most everyone wants to see a total ban on all venomous because of it and that gives those special interest groups some leverage.

yeah i see ur point snakeguy

sigh.... moron.... the guy not u. lol

and yes i still think not having permits would be better. lol. a simple permit would be great but since we all know the gov cant, and i truly mean cant, do something simple and productive, it would be best for them to keep thier hands out of it

They should just have herpers write all the wildlife laws...:naughty:

i second this motion!!

One clear example of an idiot can possibly be me. I've pretty much considered myself impulse resistant, until someone offered me a HOT, which I fortunately rejected. This is why we need permits, a bunch of herpers in the government wildlife section.
