I like the shortnose gar. Would catfish be okay with them or nothing at alljag cichlid, shortnose gar, bluegill, piranha. look through all these suggestions research them, decide which you like best then comeback to ask for advice on care of them.
Any non aggressive catfish would do fine, as long as they are not mismatched enough to be able to eat each other. I would not put in something mean like a jurunese or flathead, but any normal catfish, RTC channelcat, brown bullhead etc etc would be fine. In fact anything big and gentle will work with the gar - even goldfish.I like the shortnose gar. Would catfish be okay with them or nothing at all
make sure u have at least a 180 gallon they are most aggresive cichlid in my opinion and have cool personalitiesA Dovii?
I was hoping to be able to get a black wolf fish with other fish well. From what I have heard this probably won't work so I was thinking either a shortnose gar with a couple odoe pikes if they would work together and a cat or two. Or a jardini arowana with a couple odoe pikes red tail cudas and a cat or two if the shortnose gar doesn't work with the pikes. Any suggestions?a lot of these predatory fish are labeled as "advanced" just because they are big and predatory, most of them have pretty simple care. florida gar for instance can live in a 40 degree stagnant ditch, yet most website have them labeled as advance all because they are big and have pointy teeth. you have a ton of options, once you have it narrowed down to a few come and ask us about them, we could spend the next 5 months listing off option. not tryng to be dismissive i dont want you to get overwhelmed as people keep throwing options at you, because if youre anything like me you keep saying " ooh i like that one" and end up with 100 fish on your list of possibilities.
Or maybe a Florida or spotted gar if I'm unable to get my hands on a shortnosea lot of these predatory fish are labeled as "advanced" just because they are big and predatory, most of them have pretty simple care. florida gar for instance can live in a 40 degree stagnant ditch, yet most website have them labeled as advance all because they are big and have pointy teeth. you have a ton of options, once you have it narrowed down to a few come and ask us about them, we could spend the next 5 months listing off option. not tryng to be dismissive i dont want you to get overwhelmed as people keep throwing options at you, because if youre anything like me you keep saying " ooh i like that one" and end up with 100 fish on your list of possibilities.
