Looking for large community friendly cat... Suggestions?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Did not consider them at all since they are illegal to own in my state.

There could be confusion. Perhaps only on my part though. See below.

Clarias will likely take out the cichlids. Should be ok with the bichirs.
Just seen them brought in at large sizes when imported. I assume...should be the better words.

Since your post was right where we were talking various synodontis species, I assumed you meant Synodontis clarias or red tail squeaker. No??? Are you talking walking catfish?

Yes I was talking about walking catfish.

DMD, I like the Doras suggestion. Or can look at Centrodoras branchiatus (check spelling). Yet, I am bichir-ignorant, so can't be an adviser here.

Oh I see. You were reacting to Justarn's suggestion... but anyhow this is moot as DMD is in Washington state, USA.

10 bucks says those pics are viktors lol

You gonna lose money, bro. I am not that prolific. Appreciate the sentiment though :) I have kept the catfish though. Twice. Looks good. Pretty inactive in daylight though.

Still doing tons of research on cats. Anyone have info on the dwarf giraffe cats (Notoglanidium macrostoma)?

justarn justarn , you were raising some out?

So far I like how they look as adults and they are not too big with 10" being about max.... Again not sure how they would do with the big endli....

I second the idea of the Goeldiellas, while I haven't kept them personally. They seem to be the best suggesting thus far IMO.
I'm pretty wet spot has them in too, albeit at a small size. So it'd probably be a good idea to grow it out beforehand.

I do have a growout and Wet Spot says they have them on their website, so this one is a maybe.

wow, that is slow for a cat... thanks for the info

That is it! This is the cat I want! The right size, small mouth structure, only one problem... where to find one.
