Honestly I thought of geos reading what you wanted but that's not a cat lol. And I'm not saying the fish won't be big enough, but you want it to be tough enough to take a bite, remember most cats only have a slime coat for protection. Because something seems big doesn't mean the bichirs won't try, because it'll try also doesn't mean it will succeed. I'm sure you know all of this though lol was just giving an example for you since you kept mentioning how tall bodied a syno may turn out

Good point moe. My juruense got absolutely shredded by my ornate bichir

Bufonis and folweri are other options both getting to a chunky 12"

Ooooooor bufonius ftw !!!

Good luck finding one tho

Looked at ''catfish with bichir" and found out my synodontis ideas may not work. Some of them are like plecos and will rasp at slime coat. As to the bolt cat, one comment was that they were 'mean', so I don't know what to make of that. Still doing my research at this point.

Research leads me to wanting cats that are rare and expensive! lol

I found a cat I like.... So now for questions, lol

The cat I have in mind is Goeldiella eques or the "Horsehead Pimelodid"
PlanetCatfish says up to 11.4" but elsewhere Im reading 8-9" is pretty much max.

What are the thoughts on this one being kept with big bichirs?
Anyone know what growth rate are on these?

8-9" could be food no? My 8-9" four line is pretty narrow.
