Sorry bro :(

Sorry to hear about your loss. =(

the ugliest, most appalling part about the hobby is seeing your fish vanquish under your care ... sorry to hear

You're so right. Especially because I know damn well if I had left him alone and let him be happy in the tank he was in, instead of moving him, he'd be just fine right now. And especially knowing I could have used a bigger net. I know it was a freak accident that he got stuck, and it could have been anyone and it could have been any fish, but I still could have avoided it. I keep thinking about how he could be chowing down with all the other fish at feeding time, happy and fat and being, well, ALIVE, if I didn't mess with him. Doesn't help the situation much, but I can't help it.

And does anyone notice, the only fish that get sick/hurt and die are your favorites? I mean, we all have a fish or two that are far from your list of ideal fish, be it because of species or attitude. Why do they live on, long and strong? Like the ABK I rescued from PetsMart. He was too big and no one would buy him, so they asked me to give him a home. I don't really care if he's there or if he's not. I feed him and that's that. He's not stuck in a tiny tank being harassed by toddlers beating on his aquarium anymore - so he's fine. Is HE sick? Is HE caught in a net? Nope. He's perfect. Getting bigger and fatter and healthier. What is that about? And how about your bottom feeding fish? They're there to serve a purpose - they're FISH, not your pets. They aren't your prized specimens you love to watch and show off. They don't get nicknames or special food prepared for them. Do they die randomly? Hell nah. Think about your average pleco. They just keep GROWING AND GROWING, like the damn energizer bunny keeps GOING AND GOING.

It's a crock of crap, I tell ya. A serious crock of crap.

And I know this rant was pointless, but I had to get it off my chest, and I do feel a bit better now.

I'm so sorry, I read this thread and it reminded me of one of my fish (rip Hank).:( I actually teared up a bit. These things happen tho. I think it happens to our "babies" because we always want the best for them, so we go to great lengths to move them and give them better, and in all reality, sometimes what we think is best isn't. It happened to me too (not with a net, but it's still horrible). Keep your head up. It was a beautiful fish;).
