Could Mack I believe he goes by DeathAngel on the forum provide some detailes on this collection?
The person I sold the group of F1 "green umbies" mentioned he was the person that had a friend of a friend collect the wild ones and he wanted to mix mine with them.
I'm not trying to be condescending but would really like hobbyists to know what they are buying because they end up being sold back into the hobby.

I have seen some collecting ops in some various places in BR. Some of them might as well be F1 although they are technically F0.

I say this because some of the locations basically take a fish from a large portion of a river put them in an enclosed pond next to it and let them do their thing. Kind of Wild spawn but they don't face all of the same predatory conditions.

If I were to pull some fish out of lake Michigan and put them in my parents pond can I call their spawn F0?

If 2 specimens spawn during trans-shipping are their offspring then F0 or F1?

IMO it is the ethics of the vendor in question here not as much the collector.

Preuss has some great fish and can get F0s, however I would more often than not want one of his F1s. Just wish I had a house rather than a apt so I could have soace to bring some in myself.

Yes Mack Reagan, I asked him if he would post. Ken

Yes I had 10 large one a couple of years ago. All were female from bob to femals form raps and other pick up here and there. The male came about a year later with another one that he killed. He was much smaller than the F1 but passed up the Female quicly is size. Ripped through the female and killed 4-5. I lost some of the other in the pond. They could not hang with the CA even at 10". I ended up with just the pare, I was haveing trouble getting spawns of more than 10 fry. I did not have the space for them. I sent them to my good frind George, Ken it was a past student not a family member that got them new fry. A family member picked them up and broght them in to the county on a stop over. I did not sell a one of the new one you can ask Ken my only thing was to spread them out. I tried to get them for over 2 year with out any luck. I did not have the space for them and gave some to board members and the rest to Ken.

I dont sell fish and dont care if you get them or not. They are almost gone in the wild and I just hope someone keeps them in the Hobby. I will bring a few more large in the 5-6' range when my inlaws come over in late Aug or early sept. They are going to passed out to friend/ If anyoine one wants to talk give me a call.

Mack...you collected the fry? Or the student collected the fry? You said a "family member" brought them into the country on a stop over. Another aquarist? Where exactly were they collected in Panama?

Thanks.

Last fall Local fisherman cought a large male to large to ship and 2 small ones. One of my Jujitsu student moved back after his farther passed away. He had local fisherman trying to catch them for over 2 years. The three were moved into acontroled pool of water. When my inlaws come over from Bolivia they picked them, up.

The wild male that George has, cam whem LAB was still flying and stoped over. Panama or Venezuela were big stop for LAB, My Farther in Law ran LAB cargo in Miami for many years. He has frined in all them Airlines and know what is required by law. If you stay out of Atlanta you will be ok.

BobP next time you see Jermany (stilllearning) ask him about the green Umbees. He was working with me when I got them in.

Reagan,
So the fry that Fish Farm is selling are the ones your inlaws brought? You mentioned that George, I think I know who you are talking about, has a wild male that you received the same way. Is the female you sent him one of the actual wild caught ones as well?
Jeremy was the one that came to pickup the F1 group from me. He said he was sending some to you and keeping a few for himself. That's when I asked where these wild "green umbie" he said you had came from. He just said a friend of a friend of yours imported them and didn't seem to want to elaborate on the specifics, so I didn't ask more about it. I appologize for the bull**** response. I believe we have spoken on the phone in the past and you seem like a good guy, so does Jeremy. It's just suspect when all these rare wild caught species start to appear when no one I know can backup where they actually came from.

Bob at the time My family who I love very much was working for a Airline who was laying people of each day. I just did not to cause them problems. At that time the only places I could not get fish form were Mexico, Cuba, and Bolivia. Alot has changed over the last couple of years. LAB is gone and My farther in laws friends are old and not working anymore. The female George has is F1. The wild female I had was killed by the male. The female is 3 years or so older. She is close to 12" or so. The wild female the male killed was was only 6". He was twice as long as her.

It helped alot have someone who knew what they were doing, I like fish but I dont want to go to jail for them.

If you see jermany ask him to give me a call. Tell him I am still trying to find the 3rd type of Umbee (The Brown and Silver) and I will go to Bolivia in the fall and will bring the Crasp form him.

No one knows that better than me. Good luck with them.

Bob....Mack is a good guy. I was with you on the suspect. There are a few (one in particular) well know retailers out there who blow smoke and swear it's perfume.

Enjoy the hobby.
