Obviously there is a lot of missing info regarding this story and it sure does sound strange that nobody helped out but the fact is if the airway is blocked, the guy can't speak-he can't even gasp for air, and if the arteries that run down the side of your neck ar squeezed shut, death can occur in as little as 30 seconds. The guy could have hit the floor in as little as 10-15 seconds.
i quess that is what happened.... too fast for anyone to do anything

lol i know i went a little overkill, but thats what i do and its put my mums mind and ease.
i think u just have to respect that they r still a wild animal no matter how soppy. u show it respect and u should be safe

I dont think that a locked terrarium and a closed door are overkill with a small child in the house. Quite the opposite, its too much risk for me.

this is just stpid, no offence but if someone was dying infront of you you have to help!

its not in the uk so thats good.

and he should always have its tail near his hands incase it stats to constrict, a man in africa was being taken up a tree by a burmese python and he just bit the tail and ran off. this was a 22 foot burmese pythomn by the way! look it up yourself mate :) :nilly:

...i say its the FIRST man in the US to be killed by one..vs how many are kept as pets?...it was a bad scenario, with people not reacting correctly...not the snakes fault it was scared its owner should of known that.

i really hope people don't freak out about it and try to ban them as pets..it will only harm the poor snakes.

My dad sent me the article. I smell a rat. No way a healthy adult man, in a competent state, was constricted by a 9 foot Boa. I mean, I have seen countless of videos of people pulling large biting Boiids off them, which should stop the sconstricting, right? The guy was probably under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time... Don't worry Brucey, you keep doing your thing. You're responsibe with your Boa.

I saw that on TV. Burmese Pythons don't live in Africa, it was an African Rock Python. The guy was probably trying to kill it or disturb it or something:screwy: Rock Pythons are aggressive as heck but I can't see one trying to EAT someone. The guy just bit the friggin' thing straight through the gut and killed it. But then again, he was in a competent state at the time.

it would take several minutes for the snake to suffocate a full grown person though and what about the other people? why would they not have helped?

I really should multi-quote all these:ROFL:
But yeah don't Constricting Snakes tighten on each exhale? A Snake doesn't just bite, clap its coils together and instantly kill its prey. In fact, don't most prey items of Constricting snakes die of massive blood pressure spikes and/or heart stopping?

this man must have been under the influence, i have had an 8 foot bite my collar bone and wrap around my neck and I easily pulled him off and Im 5,5 and 140 lbs certainly not a big guy at all
