Marine ich

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ugh just went to do a w/c so I turned off the filter and I saw the clown now has what looks like ich. After looking closer it doesn't look like normal ich though, it looks more fuzzyish.

It's not fungus so it is probably ich :(. I am guessing it is caused by poor water because I haven't done a w/c for 2 weeks.

An ideas what they could be? They might just be that way because of the black on his body...

Ugh I spoke way to soon. The wrasse now has larger dots on his tail, and a few small dots in his body. What really worries me is that he has taken to flicking himself off of rocks. Now the clown has a few spots on his body and one on his dorsal. The dragonet seems to be doing ok but it is hard to tell with him, also the link Kelly posted earlier said they are immune to ich, so I hope so!!!! Now I really can't figure out the puffer, he still has the spots on his face he has had since the day I got him but I haven't seen any on the rest of his body (knock on wood!!!) I have been feeding with garlic/ginger soaked formula 1 and brine shrimp(gut loaded or so it says on the box). It's more of just the juice though so I don't get the garlic/ginger in the tank. I let the garlic/ginger sit in a medicine cup with tank water overnight then warm up the frozen food in it for around an hour. I am also doing this for pellets. Is there anything else I should do?

Oh and I forgot to say, the wrasse is much more active though and eating pretty well.

not gonna get rid of it fully unless you QT and treat those fish, if you want to keep teeter tottering between good and bad for the next couple weeks or even months until the parasite reproduces enough to overtake your fish completely is up to you

Ok, QT, a 20 long treating with hypo for 5-6 weeks?

Dip in freshwater, match PH. If that is to difficult get african cichlid water from the fish store. Leave them in there for 5 mins.

Bump up heat to 86

Lower salinity to .19

Ich is usually gone by third day and doesn't return.

People say slower all the way to .009 but I see results at higher levels.

Ok going to get a 20 long with the basics and some PVC pipe and a refractometer. So W/Cs once a day? Should/can I put a piece of small live rock in there?
