Matt's 40 Gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Angels will eat neons but danios are too fast for them. In a 40g Ive had success keeping angels with zebra danios, silver tipped tetras and even bloodfins.

Couldn't wait, so just woke up and took another picture of the clearer water. BTW, adjusting the brightness settings on your camera really helps bring the natural color to the picture. And Deathsting, I wish I could get that thick jungle feeling that your tank has, how's your tank going?

wow, man! Pikachu's got a green thumb!!

u need to be patient, as ur plants grow u will be able to prune some of them and replant the trimmings. that's basically all i did.

are u using Co2 or dosing any ferts? that will help a lot too, to get dense growth. the more plants u have the more co2 and ferts u need, keep this in mind.

my tank is going alright, my hornwort is about dead...lol.. not a big deal.. its not that important as compared to my hygro and amazon sword. my tank went up to 92F the other day. that pretty much destroyed the hornwort . it wasn't too good when i came back from vacation.. then the heat wave hit.. now its probably toast. anyways, i will be doing an update very shortly, keep checking my thread, heres the link (click it):

Planted tank Journal

I'm gonna build a diy c02 hopefully tomorrow or as soon as I get a check valve. I'm also using Seachem Flourish every Monday morning. And thanks to a hookup by Watnazn I got a piece of Utricularia Graminifolia. I hope they grow fast because they are only 1x1 inch pieces, so they barely cover any of the ground. I also don't know how to plant them, right now I just sort of stuck them into the gravel in like a ditch. Is there any other better way to plant them?

Hmm, well hopefully I'll need to dose 3x a week one day. :D Anyways, I finally got some tropical fish today!!! New stock list:
1 angelfish
1 betta fish
1 corydora
2 Guppies
5 Harlequin Rasboras
1 German Blue Ram
4 Ottos

Now the tank looks a lot more empty, so I plan to be getting a lot more fish, maybe some loaches, definently a knight goby, probably some more livebearers, annndd probably some tetras of some sort. But that'll come in time (lol next weekend hopefully) This is a major investment and I've spent a load of $$$ on it so hopefully I don't fail miserably and everything goes up in flames.... or into the earth as a matter of im in socal and earthquakes are a matter concern for us.

Whoops, forgot the pictures, the only part everyone is interested in. ;)

Matt, i Needed those goldfish lol. You shouldn't have gotten the guppies, my cousin has a neighbor that was giving them away because theirs had babies. Do you want some? I'm not sure if they are still small.
