Mega Mess... But what's to blame?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I cringed as I was reading this post. Sorry to hear that happened.

I would be so PO'ed. That manufacturer would get a piece of my mind. Thank GOD for insurance.

Was it a glasscages.com tank? 90 days seems short, although I never asked about what I got with my 220. I am so scared now, I got acrylic to prevent stuff like this, and now I have seen 2 large tanks blow out. What is your insurance company I fear about my tank breaking all the time.

you should definitely say who built that tank so others dont experience the same thing... Also, where is the thread with pics?

I too would like to know who built the tank. However I am one who is against saying who it is until the manufacture has had the opportunity to voice their opinion.

To many times a manufacture/store/shop.... is mentioned early on in a thread where some thing has gone wrong(like this one). Then they receive a bad reputation since the post with their corrective actions(if any) is buried xx number of post down to be missed by readers. I think it should be posted all at once. Just my $0.02

I agree 100% with you. And that shows alot of respect. When companies mass produce products, not every one is going to be 100% like the prototype. Alot of research and design goes into products, but it is next to impossible to acheive a product without defections.

im glad to hear that its all covered, but im so sorry it happened to begin with. im really surprised to see that front plate so warped out of shape-it makes me wonder if the acrylic front wasnt exactly a straight piece when it was first bonded together-like it was forced to be straight, and over time just lost form.

im glad your ray is doing well-busted tanks are something that worry us all on here..

I want to say who it is, but I wasn't planning to out the co until they have a chance to correct the situation. If they don't fix it then I"m all game for voicing it.

navygirl, If you look at the pictures again you will actually see that all the sides are warped as well as the top piece, and no it's not because of how they are sitting, I rearranged the garage today to accomidate some new "ray" housing and they are still warped to the inside of the tank. As well as if those seams were done correctly the whole tank should not of fallen apart when my husband and the clean up guy moved it. So after doing some research since I wanted to make my own tank, it appears that they forgot to use the Weld-on 4, or they used some that was bad, either that, or all they used was weld-on 16 as both leakage prevention and adheasive which it really isn't designed for. I will keep you updated as what happens for the tank.

We are most likely going to get a new tank, it's just a matter of where and when. As for Pandora, she is now is a much better home. The guy who came to finish up our floor drying today mentioned putting her in a kiddy pool as a joke, which reminded me about plywood tanks, well needless to say we made a trip to the Home Depot, used our stand and created my first plywood tank that holds about 90 gallons of water. It's not the best, but it allows me to be able to house her in a little more comfortable situation until we can get the house and insurance settled. So, I didn't get rid or her, and she actually has sand again.

again, i'm not going to say about the co, but my insurance is State Farm.

It's nice to see you didn't just give up and sel the ray and not rebuild keeping the dream alive is always a good thing.
