I can't believe nobody has mentioned Mastodon yet. Probably the best band out right now. Blood Mountain is a masterpiece.

I saw them live a few months ago.

Wasn't really impressed at all. A long with quite a lot of the audience.

Haven't heard much of their albums though. Maybe they just suck live.

That's funny Steve-89. I hated Mastadon before I saw them open for Slayer last year. They're performance last year won me over and I grabbed both their albums. Definitely surprised me. Same with Thine Eyes Bleed, they're pretty cool, never really heard them until that show last year. Lamb of God totally stole the show which I knew they would

I am downloading Cleansing a Misguied Path by them, its pretty awesome so far.

The first time i saw them live, i think they were opening for the dillinger escape plan, i hated them. Saw the a few more times, they got better, saw them in February with converge, and was totally blown away. They definitely grew on me over the last few albums/years. They do have a tendency to not tour with other "metal" bands, other than the Slayer tour last year.

Anyways, another band i dig a lot is The Red Chord. Their new one is pretty good, although i've only listened to it once.

Cool, I have their 2006 release, Symbols of Failure. It's just awesome

Jennypayne, Clients is a pretty good album, thanks for remindind me about it, haven't listened to it in awhile will have to dust it off tonight and give it a spin.

Been listening to WhoreCore all day. Awesome band that Sven from Aborted just joined. WhoreCore now has 2 vocalists and w/ Sven on board they are absolutely CRUSHING. Check'em out here Song, The Mundane Corruption is just a headbanger of epic proportions

Godsmack is most defiantly NOT metal. Hard rock, yes. Nothing tribal about them. You want tribal, you need to get some later sepultura, or soulfly.

As for what else i listen to, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Pantera blah blah the list goes on and on...

I definately Listen to Sepultura and Soulfly. I listen to every type of metal. I probably the biggest metalhead here lol. Hahaha it's funny because I was working on a roof today ( I am a Roofer) and I was blasting Pantera, BLS, basically all southern heavy metal lol and the neighbor comes over and was like Hell your probably the biggest Metal Head on the planet. He likes metal too so. My list of bands is miles long I probably can't name every single one even if I had the time to do it.

I definately Listen to Sepultura and Soulfly. I listen to every type of metal. I probably the biggest metalhead here lol. Sepultura was good when Max was in the band. Really stopped listening to them after Roots. Soulfly is good. Their last couple of cds really didn't grab my attention. Old metal is...old its not even that heavy. The only good thing about BLS is that Zakk Wylde is in the band, other than that, can't stand them. Seen them 4 years in a row at Ozzfest. Really don't think they diserve mainstage performance but whatever.

Godsmacks first cd could be somewhat classified as metal. Not extreme metal but metal nonetheless.

Am I the only one that CANNOT stand Mastadon? As well as most older metal. Yes they did influence bands today, but honestly most bands today are way more heavier than bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, or even Pantera.
