Ya I know what you said, that's why it was a BAD COMPARISON by you. I altered it so the comparison of the human height to fish length that you introduced would closer relate.:screwy:

Again post your individual questions in the forums they belong, this way you don't have so much mis-information thrown your way.

how does that closer relate? and it wasn't the comparison that was important it was the point behind it. if we found an oscar tomorrow that grew to 22" in the wild by monday everyone would be telling me an oscar needs a 300 gallon tank cause he will DEFFINATLY get to 22" .. impossible for him not to. do you ge tthe point? if you don't notice that people do that? excellent thats your opinion. ive watched the threads for a year and everyone basically goes by the biggest size ever from that speices in history. i just disagree with how that is done so i ask for average size not max possible.

I think this subject has been mostly covered of what you can get...

Between your ignorant comments and your disregard that people on this forum actually care about their fish. In all honesty, if your not willing to care for these fish for life. You shouldn't get them at all. Your just going to read this as see me as some guy who proclaims myself as an "expert." When in all reality we are all learning about fish, not one person who has the ultimate wisdom of all things with gills. I'm surprised the following mfk'ers are still using their own time to help someone who can't even make up his mind and can't be respectful enough to the people who are willing to help you.

thats funny i was VERY respectful to the people who helped me .. i bet if you go through this thread and find anyone who suggested a pssible fish to me and was nice about it you wont find oneee bad comment that i made to them. the people who have to make the sarcastic useless comments. i have no respect for because if they have nothing better to do then go online and make sarcastic remarks .. then they obviously have no respect for themselves so. and i don't disregaurd the people who actually care about their fish. never once said that. gratz on getting your post count up by 1!!!

oh and on that note i challenge you to go through the posts and find one .. just one ignorent comment that i made that WASN'T a retaliation for someone elses rude or sarcastic comment .. see if you can find one. i'm never the one to start it but if your gonna be rude and sarcastic ur sure as hell gonna get it back. so show me where I was the first one to make the unneccisary comment to any of these people?

Many of these I have cut and pasted.

Aligator gar:
If you want to provide a good home for the fish you should be providing at least 4x its size in tank length and 1.5x in tank depth in order to give it some room to move and exist in something resembling a life. This would equate to a 12'x 4.5' tank, which, if it is 2' tall , would be just over 800 gallons. But I'd make it 15' long.

silver or jardini aro
clown knife:
Some say a 200 would do but I like the standard 3' width of a 300gal or maybe 30" wide a little longer for the arows.

It's also worth noting that many can live for around 20 years or more, which makes owning one a considerable commitment. Some aquarists also buy a young specimen with the intention of buying a bigger tank as it grows, without realising the true potential size of the species. Public aquaria are already inundated with far too many 'cast offs' from the hobby, and are unlikely to take a big one off your hands. No fellow hobbyists will have the facilities to do so, either.

It's sad to think how many hundreds of these are doomed to a drastically shortened existence by the aquatic trade. Please don't buy one if you see them on sale. This advice may appear a little extreme, but consider that nowhere can be found a report of a single hobbyist keeping a group of adult-sized specimens. Considering the thousands that are exported each year for the hobby, this would seem to tell its own story.

what page is that on? i don't even remember that? .. and reading back on it my sincere appologies to the guy who wrote it out .. other members had me steamed because they ignore things i mentioned and made comments that didn't need to be made. .. i don't even remember saying that to someone. but other then that one which if that was actually what was said then i appologize but i don't for anything else.

and reading back on it now .. i had already stated that i had a second big enough home for it. and thats my big pet peeve .. if i wrote the thread then wrote something in a post later and someone doesnt read the posts jus tthe thread then goes on a rant and doesnt realize that i already solved the sollution that they spent 3 paragraphs telling me i had (even though i didn't since i already stated the sollution) .. but either way that was a little harsh on my part. he at least tried to be helpful by taking the time to explain in depth so i appologize to him. not to anyone else. not to anyone else who threw in two cents that wasn't helpful at all

No just ignorant ones would be pushing for the 300g tank. The majority of sensible people here are telling you the needs as they have experienced or researched.

IMO you probably should look into something suited more for your skill level such as Beanie Babies.

Also been meaning to ask about your avatar, why did you choose a pic of you and your sister:screwy:
