Missing Aro

My two 10" motoro rays cornered my 6" ntt datnoid once and tried to smother/eat him. Luckily I was on the spot and forced the ray to release the dat or he would have been dinner, even with his spines. It was interesting to see the rays working together, trapping the dat in the corner. I wouldn't have thought that fish would cooperate like that (maybe it was just a fluke and they were both going for the dat at the same time).

I wouldn't be surprised if your rays got him. Do they have an enlarged stomach, near the base of their tail (big lunch)?

The ones stomach was pretty big, but he came with a decent size stomach.

antu, it is very possible that he got sucked in, but I looked several times and could not see him. I also open the overflow all the way and water was pouring out hard. If he was in there, wouldn't the was pull him out or at least slow down a little. I also stuck a hose in there to see if he was stuck and couldn't feel anything. I had a screen over it, but it kept getting clogged up. It still has the screen on it, however, i pushed it in a bit to allow for more water to flow. He could have possible still be sucked in but again i check it several times including the vent section. What are you using to cover the inlet? If that is what happened and some how he's stuck and dead in the inlet I do not want the black aro that is coming tomorrow to have the same problem. He is suppose to be a few inches larger, but it'd still give me a piece of mind.

since it wasnt your rays and theres no way he got out of the tank..
i would check to see if you still have your wallet cuz it sounds to me like he escaped.. took your credit card and is making his way to south america in search of a fast cars and faster women..

sorry for ur loss how do u make a post please message my profile please

Close the small gaps with duct tape or a rag . if the rays didn't get him he jumped. theirs hundreds of threads of shocked aro owners who couldn't believe they jumped through such a small hole. You may find a dried up aro jerky someday behind something or if you have a cat or dog it may have eaten it.Just don't let it happen again if it jumped, if the rays are getting it you may want to really watch the tank or grow it out .
