i just heard this and made a thread before seeing this was already posted

my bad

but WOW, I AM EXCITED!!!!!!

I respect Shogun, but I've seen the damage Jones can inflict. Shogun will have his hands full with Jones. I still think Jones by referee stoppage.

I do agree that the other fights will got to the judges.

Perhaps you haven't seen Shogun? He's kind of amazing... Holds wins over a lot of goooood fighters, and he's still not even 30 yet. Jones is good, and may be great, but I'm not sure if that time is just yet. I'm very excited to watch this event, though.

Take a look at his record http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurício_Rua and you'll see some great names that have fallen to Shogun.

Picking Shogun, Faber, Jim Miller, Marquart, and Cro Cop (but this one is a toss up for me).

I've seen what Jones can do too,............ to B level fighters

Not saying he can or can't do it to Shogun, but just saying that I am always reluctant to jump on any hype trains and bandwagons until the fighter is proven against top competition first. This fight will definately prove if he was ready or not.

Like, everyone always talk about how much Josh Koschek has improved with his hands, "just watch his highlights man!" Yea, I've seen his highlights, against sub par opponents, sure he knock a guys head off. but when he fought Thiago Alves, it really showed that his striking wasn't that great. He's only got that over hand right really. And gsp lit him up all night

So I think a lot of people are over hyping bones, making him the favor, and I think we are gonna see that he didn't belong in there with Shogun.

this is what I think jackson has planned, trade with shogun to find an opening to take him down and maintain top control. don't fight a muay thai fight and don't end up on the bottom. it could work, and it wouldnt' shock me to see bones become champ

but i gotta give shogun the edge, he's a proven champ against top level competition. it pisses me off that shogun is the underdog

I'm going with Jones. Shogun is an amazing fighter but so many surgeries and you gotta wonder what it's really done to him. I've also noticed those kicks he use to throw are gone due to his surgeries.

this is the only thing that makes me nervous for shogun

it sucks really, he did great and it convinced me he was fine after the first machida fight, but then their rematch caused him another trip to the surgeon

this and the size difference is what makes me nervous for shogun. jones isn't just a big dude, he's big, powerfull and fast. but we'll see how he does under pressure. we've never seen how he reacts after getting clocked or being on the bottom or in trouble. i'm expecting shogun to put him in those situations so again, this fight will prove something for jones one way or another

Shogun was unusually aggressive at the second Machida match but he tends to stalk more then anything and that could work for or against him. I like Shogun and want to see him win but he's not the same fighter from Pride.
