Duffee is no slouch in the striking department and you saw what ubereem did to him. Granted it was not the greatest test, but a good opponent for most heavyweights. You can take preparation time into consideration, but all the time in the world wouldn't have let him beat alistair. I think he would have a tough time striking with Cain or JDS, but I don't think either can beat the K-1 champ there. On the ground, he would most likely beat JDS , but Cain would definitely be a test for him. Maybe he wouldn't beat Cain, but I have a hard time thinking that. I so hope he fights Werdum and Fedor this year and then goes to the UFC. He has had some big losses in his career but he's not the same person he was then.

Duffee is no slouch? Based on what? He is a gate keeper can until proven otherwise. And he hasn't proven anything really. Sure, he's got decent technique, but he's got a weak chin. He came in on very short notice, but again, this match sounded attractive, but I thought he had no chance and was a huge underdog. I felt that there was too much hype behind this guy in the beginning which isn't his fault really. He scored a quick ko over Hague in his UFC debut, then he was lighting up Russow until he got ko'd, but Hague and Russow aren't exactly top competition. They are C level fighters, B at best. So this fight doesn't do anything for Overeem. It looks nice on his resume, but it gives almost no leverage in where he stands at the hw top 10 discussion

I can't say whether Overeem would beat jds on the ground or not. jds is a purple belt (i believe) under the nog brothers, which sounds great, but we have yet to see him on the ground since he prefers to stand. Until we see him there against a good ground guy, I can't make this call. His chin also has not been tested, he has beaten guys standing against guys that he should beat. So we know he's good, but I'd like to see him against a good stand up striker as well. His ground game will be tested against Cain, but too bad Cain is out for 6-8 months. I'm truley up in the air with a fight between jds and overeem. it would be very interesting to see how it would go.

but when it comes to Cain vs Overeem, my money would be on Cain, but i'd be very nervous about it. Overeem has a great guillotine, he's a dangerous stand up striker and has a huge height and reach on Cain. But Cain has convinced me that his wrestling, chin, cardio and ground and pound would get the better of Overeem in a fight. I truly believe he is top 3 at hw right now. I would put Overeem at top 10, but not sure exactly where

I'm very excited about the SF tournament lined up. It's a GREAT collection of heavyweights and should be really impressive.

Some might complain about the left side of the bracket, but really, it's the best way. It will get Fedor up against Werdum or Overeem (picking Reem on this) sooner rather than later - important so it's not stalled in contract re-negotiations for months.

It puts Reem against Werdum soon, since they should befighting for a title (5rd), then the winner of that against Fedor/Silva (Fedor) for a 5rd, then winner from the right bracket (probably Barnett) in a 5rd for the final.

Anyone think that'll actually happen w/ Fedor's management in the picture? So many matchups I'd be excited for but they can't all happen...the biggest being Barnett/Fedor and Barnett/Overeem (and Fedor/Overeem of course). Damn, a ground game between Werdum and Barnett would be uber exciting, too. Barnett's style of submission fighting is my favorite to watch. I do think it's BS that Overeem and Werdum is in the first round because that should really be a title match in itself, but they already have two people, IMO, that don't really belong, but that's not to say they're terrible fighters.

Just heard a rumor that Strikeforce wants to feed Bobby Lashley to Fedor.

My buddy just gave me a belated Christmas present!

awesome, where does one get these? i'd imagine the ufc website but can you buy em off the shelf of walmart or something?

anyways, about the sf tourny

at first it looked funny to me, then the more i thought about it, i would not have set it up that way. they really should switch barnett's fight with the overeem/werdum fight.

why would they put all the big fights on one side and risk a lame finals round. i mean, what if it was fedor or overeem against bret rogers in the finals? they should set it up so that the stronger fighters knock off the weaker ones to have 2 of the stronger ones fight in the finals. sure i want to see fedor fight the winner of werdum/overeem, but imagine if that happened in the final! it would be epic.

and if fedor got knocked off or won but pulls out due to injury, they can always setup another mega fight at end of year. same with werdum or overeem.
