Monaster Convicts...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They were totaly an impromptu purchase, was only going to get new dithers for my JD tank and some more plants. But after watching the colony for a bit I had to have these two. Now the question was were to put them. I couldn't put them in with my pair of JD's dont think that would have turned out good in any way at all. So I put them in with Toni my 7in ish Oscar. Also knowing that the 5 giant danios from the JD tank were going in Toni's tank as well I was hoping that all would get along well enough. Toni ate the smallest danio within minutes. After that things have settled down. She still chases the danios a bit, but now they have combined into one massive school with the Roseline sharks.

The convicts have taken over the far right side of the tank and at times the pair gill flare and push against Toni. She doesn't bother them anymore, stays to her 2/3 of the tank now.

Man are these little convicts brave little creature. Today they were gill flaring and the like to me as I was watching them and to the python when I did today's water change.

One of my males. I love these little guys. They stayed alive in a tank with an 18 in arowana and various 5-10 inch cichlids and so many other predators. Dispite being a meal for some of the fish they managed to stay off the menu. Now I'm growing them out separately and gonna breed him later. IMG_7590.JPG

Rescued from a dirty pet shop. 5.5 inches. He has a nuchal hump. I actually fattened him up and got him a wife lol

Strange fact about my rescue Convict. I have a different lineage female that bred with the big guy and all of the fry were striped. I’ve never had that happen. There would always be at least one pink one. Weird
