Wow def getting your fonzie on haha. Love the bike. Love your albino oscar even more. Were his patterns always that defined from youth? I'm looking at juvi albino O's and I'm trying to figure out what i should look for in terms of pattern.

I got him at about 10". But, yeah, he looked just like that only smaller. But, Oscars will have their "real adult" pattern when they hit 7" or so. You'll have a good idea of what they'll look like when they hit 4" or 5" or so. Smaller than that and it's hard to predict. Albie was a rescue. About half of these fishes were rescues. They were either "too mean" or "too timid and all beat up". Now, pardon me while I smash a jukebox and make it play a song. Aaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!:thumbsup:

The names are almost as cool as the fish.

Thanks. The one TSN stabbed the web of my hand to the tune of about an inch deep when I went to add him to the tank. Hence, the Angus Stabbington III.

Thanks again everyone for looking. I'll get some more pics up soon of the stand progress.:)

Thanks. I've worked out a deal to trade the two tiny Slavinis (they've been growing out in my African tank) plus my female JD (she's been on loan to a member here for a breeding project) for the male mota.

Don't envy me. It's not going as smoothly as you may think. I've got about 40 1100 projects going on at the same time. This new tank and stand and all that goes with that plus maintaining all my other tanks. Plus a '63 Chevy pickup I'm doing bodywork on and painting. Plus, I've promised the wife I'll get new flooring down in place of the carpet in the room the new tank's going in. Plus I've been building a bike. Plus....:D

lol oh ok never then  its still cool you got all of them in that one tank...

You might want to look at the sticky on the Catfish Thread titled-Monster Cats.

Here is a lot more information for those interested in the Tiger Shovelnose Catfishes. There are now eight recognized species. Here's a good paper when you've got some free time.

But, my keeping them is merely clever subterfuge. They are being trained as ruthless assassins for a secret mission on the Texas/Mexico border to infiltrate a rival's tank and eat all his fishes at night (when they like to hunt). The training is going well. They are now being instructed in clever disguises (false mustaches and beards mostly). Oops, I've already said too much, lol. :grinno:

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention on top of all that other stuff, the wife brought home a brand spanking new German Shepherd Dog pup 12 weeks old this weekend. So, I've got puppy Schutzhund training to deal with in addition to everything else. I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off, lol.:screwy::grinno: I need some help.

Before I offer any help, let me give you your well deserved props on such a successful
aggressive community tank with "happy" fishes. I can help you; just send your Loisellis
this way

More pics!! :D

I have a empty 5'x2'x2'.5".....
This thread is very persuasive!:grinno:

Yea definitely do the mota, 3 pairs of parachromis in one tank, fun times.

You know what would look cool in there? A big vieja of some kind. I'd get an argentea. Nice stand, lots of support, that one ain't saggin' :)

Thank a lot. Your empty tank is the same size as the one these guys are currently in (and have been in for 10 months or so). But, while it works for me, it may not work for others. Every fish is different in what it will tolerate as far as tankmates and territory. Be prepared for any eventuality when attempting to house a bunch of large territorial cichlids.

Thanks again for the kind words. And good luck to you should you try it. But the loisellis aren't going anywhere.:D

The male mota is for sure a go. As long as nothing happens to him before I get him, that is. I think once both the motas are in there, I'll be pretty much done with stocking. Unless I find a grammodes around here local. I've talked to a local guy I know that has spawns sporadically, but who knows. The only LFS around that can get them wants $90 each. That's more than I personally want to pay for a 4"er.

Thanks for your comments on the stand. I try to overbuild my stands. A few extra dollars in materials equals a lot less sleepless nights (and sometimes a lot drier floors). :)

Thanks again everyone for looking and stay tuned for more pics soon, the camera battery is charging.:D
