Monster sized ammo

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it looks like a crayola crayon.........................of DEATH

I'm still not seeing the advantages. I think more or less its just the "in" thing again for these rich guys. I really doubt your humping your gear very far. Im sure you are in a Jeep and when you are not you have the guides and porters carrying everything.

Also the power of the .50 may ruin a hide for a trophy mount so may that is why its not used. And I do agree that there is no real hunting load but the 600 OK is a FMJ any how. But for anyone who pays $300+ for 20rds of centerfire rifle ammo has mroe money then sense, of course in my opinion.

Dont get me wrong, that round is very interesting and Im sure your rifle is going to be a beauty, Im just wondering why people are not shooting the .50bmg as there are many rifles offered for fair prices and ammo is easily obtainable.

That is awesome.

You guys should read this about dangerous game calibers. I have to attend a Thanksgiving dinner But will post when I return. http://www.470mbogo.com/BigBoreCompendium/

wow it's got more recoil energy then the 577 T-rex. what are you using for recoil reduction? Or are you some huge science experiment looking guy?

For those of you who don't know what the 577 T-rex does to you here's a vid....

Seriously, it looks like fun but whats the point? Unless you are made of iron, the very stout recoil will pretty much make any rapid and accurate follow up shots not possible. Hell Id rather be armed with a semi .308 such as an FN FAL with a 20rd mag against a charging Cape Buffalo then an all or nothing gun like this.

I will admit, I dont like recoil. Im very recoil sensitive but I got the chance to fire an AR-50 and recoil wasnt bad at all. I wouldnt want to sit and plink all day but it was more then manageable.

JD7.62, Do you know anyone that has hunted Africa? The 50BMG catridge is a bottleneck design which causes stickey extraction. It is also not a controlled round feed cartridge. It's like calling someone a fool for buying piaya when they could just buy a $5 red bellyI'll post some photos of the rifle when it is completed.

I guess militaries of the world have been doing it wrong for about 100years now. Besides, do you plan shooting hanging upside down? How fast can you realistically chamber another round? Once you get your rifle Id love to see how accurate you can put two shots at 100yards in less then 10 seconds. Again I think its really cool, but that is all I think it is. I just think there are more practical choices.

You have to admit, the big game cartridges are coming back and sort of a "fad" thing right now. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries when hunters were forced to load their own is one thing. I do shoot and hunt enough to know that .600OK is not a practical round, its a status symbol or a hobby.

Off, to go deer hunting right now with a 110+ year old cartridge, 7.62x54r. (I know, I know there is a BIG difference between deer and big DANGEROUS game so dont tell me)
