I looked at some pics from Dan in georgia on the facility and it looks like Woody was using Cyro Acrylite GP. I don't know acrylic manufaturers so I don't know if this is good or not.

i will find out.

I haven't read through all 7 pages of this thread, so if I'm repeating something, just ignore me!

Regarding the 750 gallon Tenecor in your other room..... I would not worry. Tenecor is a very large company that builds excellent tanks. I've never had one fail or even heard of one failing.

I've heard of many problems with the georgia company.

Hope everything works out for you.

Pat

First time reading this as well....... I have to say that you have gone through a lot...
I feel for ya..., but atleast you have most everything worked out by now....

I wanted to take this opportunity to ask this question to fellow MFKer's;

I am currently planning to buy a 8'x4'x2' or 30" and was looking at this company:
http://www.midwestcustomaquariums.com/warranty.html

Does anybody have any experience with them and more importantly does anybody have anything like this experience to report!!

Also can anyone recommend some good Arcylic Aquarium Manufactures near Philthadelphia.....???

like others have said dont worry bout the tenecor, They are an actual division of a plastics company. Their tanks are some of the highest quality! and local for me too.
Im saving up for my 400+ gallon form them soon;)

i would of actually wanted to be near the tank so i could have seen it pop. Im sure there would of been a funny reaction. One where if it was film you would look back and laugh a long long time about it lol. If it happened while you had a big gulp in your hand the funny factor goes up 10fold!!

Sorry bout the tank, and the mess!

Acrylite GP is good material. Chemcast GP is the material that was used and this is a material that had not yet proven itself over the long term, still hasn't IMO. The only 3 brands that would be recommended for aquaria are (my order of preference); Spartech's Polycast, Cyro's Acrylite GP, and Plexi-Glas G. There are 2 other brands; Mitsubushi and Reynolds which are excellent as well but are usually found only in public aquaria.

It appears that they are using only Acrylite GP and specifying same in their price list. This is a good thing for the reefkeeping community and industry as a whole.

James

That is good info Acrylics. I am currently building a tank out of 1/2 inch plexiglas G and tried to get info from the manufacturing and still have not got a response. I have actually made a couple of tanks using extruded acrylic and this is my firt with cell cast. The material cuts so much smoother and the bond is a lot cleaner.

atleast your house is fixed.. look at it this way.. you got hardwood right? tank looks good man.. glad its over with

I assume this is James, the owner of Envision Acrlyics? Stick around. :D

Regarding the rebuild, it's great that you had the DIY know-how to rebuild the joists and dry wall. Looks great.

if that was me (god forbid) the water and home damage would be the least of my worries. My significant other with a butcher knife would be the first thing going threw my mind. I would have bought her and her girlfriend tickets to aruba and gave it to her at work. Took her straight to airport and then hopefully have Extreme Makeover Home Edition come to my house and fix the place in a week. This way when she gets back my house is brand new, I have a new tank, she thinks I mad her a surprise and then more than likely I'll get laid LOL

Craig I finally found your thread, its hard to belive that the first picture on here is the same room I stood in. That was some mess and I'm glad for you its for the most part over. The house looks alot better with the hardwood floors in my opinion, and the tank looks great.
