Get a bid dehumidifier!! Mine is being worked on right now... It hasn't been on for like two weeks and my basement is starting to smell!

That is so true..get those humidifiers working nonstop and air conditioner if you have it and fans..everything helps dry it out ..and the faster it dries the less chance of fungus and mildew.. i have no smell at all now..only because we went right to it.. and i even had smoke residue and that is completly gone..

we have 3 commercial dehumidifiers going and 9 commercial fans..my electric meter is ready to fly out of its socket its spinning so fast!the adjuster said they'd pay for a hotel if we desire as the house is uninhabitable right now.the noise and smell are unbelieveable.

does anyone have experience with travertine tile? i wonder if the smell/moisture can soak into it and the grout? in the family room has to come out and it got damp and now reeks.pretty much the whole first floor's flooring is ruined..

im just a teenager and dnt kno the exact type of tile in my basement but in '99 hurricane floyd put 3 feet of water in my basement(we had the stick on tiles, we had to take them all off and we put a new rug down and some tiles by our bar. Later down the line weve been flooded like 5 times(not more than a foot){we live in front of a stream and swamp and the drainage is terrible} and right now we just havesome sort of ,i think, waterproof stick on tiles with throw rugs. WE were able to keep mold down with the dehumidifiers and large industrial fans. WE keep everything up off the floor and what is on the floor is all in big Tupperware containers. I can't imagine the tank loss but i can and do know the pain and stress water damage does. Good Luck hopefully you get the tank straightened out and will be able to use the beautiful stand and canopy again.

Shame this happened, it really is every aquarist's worst nightmare. It all comes down to how he bonded the two pieces of acrylic together, acrylic is much more durable than glass and true acrylic seams are actually chemically bonded together giving much better resistance than silicon. If you do plan on going with acrylic again, invest in a top class tank from Envision Acrylics or SoCalCreations. Reef Central usually have all the best reviews on custom tank builders, maybe you can find a good one in your area. Good luck and keep us posted.

its all in the air right now but thanks for the advise..socal creations is on my favorites. i will check them out when i replace the tank..the stand got alittle scratched up but the canopy is fine..

as i said at my initial post, this is the 2nd one to burst on me.same builder but diffrent cause.the other tank was built with a 1" body and 1/2" bottom and the bottom sheet tore like a piece of paper..it was in the garage and only did minimal damage..i've been concerned about this new tank but it was built with 1"acrylic all around so i really felt better about it.i'll attach a picture of that one when it burst..
